The compliance department’s primary goal is to dispute engineering rejections, support and review site survey deliverables, maintain jurisdictional code compliance, assist in managing quality for engineering and design, and guide all other ops teams at ION in navigating engineering and design requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee code compliance and design and engineering quality for solar installations.
- Understand, simplify, and implement solar code compliance to successfully excel in high production and quality standards to become the best in the industry.
- Coordinate and problem-solve with internal departments and field operations to resolve ongoing and new issues, prioritize assignments, handle project escalations, and maintain project timeline expectations.
- Responsible for learning and mastering Solar engineering and installation-related subject matter expertise and industry code standards to avoid unnecessary rework and reduce costs in terms of labor and material for all departments.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extremely proficient at electrical code understanding and electrical installation.
- Ability to upskill individuals/teams with continuous coaching and feedback and high accountability in areas of needed improvement for following SOPs and meeting industry competitive performance expectations.
- Work closely with structural engineers and master electricians for accurate and cost-efficient design / install decisions.
- Efficient with Energy Storage System (battery) design, Ground Mount Design, and/or other custom electrical line diagram design preferred but not required.
- Ability to manage time effectively and make quick accurate decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, engineering, and other operations teams.
- Proficiency in solar design-related software such as Aurora, AutoCAD, and excellent computer skills Preferred.
- Ability to work in a team as well as work independently.
- Detail-oriented individual who can deliver high-quality projects end-to-end.
Education and Experience:
- 3 Years Minimum field experience as a Master or Journeyman Electrician, OR 3 years PV Design Experience; OR 4-year Electrical Engineering type degree; OR Certificate from a Technical College
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification Preferred.
- Solar experience preferred
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced, open floor office environment with significant computer usage. Utilization of complex systems. Speed and accuracy are essential to the successful completion of tasks.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. May encounter interruptions throughout the work day.
