Do you want to work with the 15th fastest-growing startup in Europe? If so, you’re in the right place.

AssetCool is one of Europe’s fastest-growing startups, building the fastest path to more power on the grid.

We’re tackling one of the most urgent challenges in the global energy transition: grid congestion. Electricity demand is rising fast; driven by electrification, AI and data centres. While traditional grid upgrades take years, demand exists today. The grid isn’t ready.

AssetCool delivers robotic grid upgrades that physically increase the capacity of existing transmission lines by up to 30%, without rebuilding infrastructure. Using advanced robotics and proprietary photonic coatings, we unlock data-centre-scale capacity in weeks to months, not years and at a fraction of the cost and disruption of conventional approaches.

Our technology goes beyond capacity. We reduce losses, prevent corrosion, cut corona noise and generate high-value operational data that supports smarter grid operation and maintenance. Our systems are already deployed globally, and we just raised a big funding round from leading energy and climate investors.

AssetCool is one of the most innovation-driven companies in the UK energy sector and we’re scaling fast! If you’re ambitious, mission-driven and excited to work on real deployments that strengthen the industry that really matters, AssetCool is where you can make it happen.

Role Overview

A series of product breakthroughs is opening the next phase of our commercial expansion, and we’re deepening our North American presence to match. We’re looking for an ambitious utility sales leader who wants to play a defining role in that growth.

This is a hands-on commercial leadership role reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. You’ll personally win business while building the processes, relationships and team capability we need to scale. Your mandate is to build a repeatable North American revenue engine: develop new utility relationships, move existing opportunities forward and turn successful initial projects into larger, recurring deployment programmes. You’ll work closely with the commercial leadership team, engineering and operations to turn our technical capability into contracts we can deliver well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Win revenue: Own the full sales cycle, from targeted outreach and qualification through technical evaluation, proposals, negotiation and signed contracts, with clear personal responsibility for sales results.
  • Build strategic utility accounts: Engage engineering, transmission planning, asset management, operations, procurement and executive sponsors, and understand how technical approval, budgets and purchasing decisions connect. Coordinate with marketing, proposal support and delivery teams, and develop productive channel and industry partnerships.
  • Convert projects into scale: Structure paid pilots with clear success criteria and an agreed route to circuit-level deployments, multi-project programmes and framework agreements with meaningful purchase commitments.
  • Make the commercial case: Build credible, customer-specific value propositions around capacity, asset performance, deployment time and lifecycle cost, backed by evidence and engineering input.
  • Strengthen sales operations: Establish account plans, qualification standards, CRM discipline, stage definitions, deal reviews and reliable forecasts. Clearly distinguish signed commitments from conditional opportunities and recognised revenue.
  • Build the function: Help recruit, coach and enable the North American sales team as it grows.
  • Sell what we can deliver: Align customer commitments with technical readiness, field constraints and operational capacity. Protect margin and contract quality, and feed structured customer insight back into product development.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A proven record of selling technology, equipment or technical services to North American electric utilities, with direct ownership of closed business and revenue growth.
  • Experience managing long, multi-stakeholder utility sales cycles, including technical validation, vendor qualification, procurement and contracting.
  • Evidence of building or scaling a sales function, covering prospecting, pipeline development, forecasting, sales enablement or team development.
  • The credibility to work with utility engineers and the commercial judgement to negotiate with procurement and senior decision-makers. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you must pick up complex technology quickly.
  • Strong personal drive, resilience and follow-through. You’re comfortable prospecting, writing proposals and closing deals yourself.
  • Collaborative, low-ego leadership: you challenge constructively, communicate clearly across functions and build trust without overpromising.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Overhead transmission or distribution experience, for example dynamic line rating (DLR), advanced conductors, reconductoring, grid-enhancing technologies, power-line hardware or robotic inspection and maintenance. Strong candidates from the wider utility ecosystem are equally welcome if they can show transferable relationships, technical selling ability and commercial results.
  • Experience taking an emerging hardware, robotics or infrastructure technology from initial adoption to repeatable sales.

We care more about what you’ve built and sold than a particular degree, title or employer.

Why Join AssetCool?

  • Shape a major market for technology that’s revolutionising the power grid.
  • Real ownership and direct access to technical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Build, not inherit: grow a team and a sales organisation as the business scales.
  • Scope to progress into wider, global commercial leadership, based on results, leadership capability and business needs.
  • Competitive salary and flexible working.
