About the role

Location: Remote or San Francisco

Company

In order to keep climate change to 1.5°C, we’ll need 30% of global GDP (all of energy generation and transportation) to run on batteries by 2035.

Zitara Technologies (YCombinator S20) builds predictive battery management software for transportation and energy customers with large deployments. Our customers operate >$100M deployments of batteries in satellites, EVs, and renewable energy storage installations.

Our team brings top researchers in physics-based battery algorithms together with seasoned software engineers to build safety-critical firmware and large scale machine learning systems. We bring with us decades of experience from companies like Tesla, Facebook, and Google.

Role

Zitara has one of the most comprehensive battery performance datasets in the world, consisting of terabytes of electrical and thermal battery data from fleets of devices in the field and battery systems in our lab. Zitara builds thousands of battery models on top of these datasets, and these models enable our customers to use their batteries more safely and efficiently.

As a member of the Platform Team, you will work closely with lab test engineers, battery algorithms engineers, and machine learning engineers to build powerful, flexible, and user-friendly systems that substantially increase the scale and speed at which we can collect data and create cutting-edge battery models.

Responsibilities

  • Build Zitara’s internal API infrastructure and tooling to expose our battery data to our web app, and ensure our APIs are secure, reliable, and performant
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable solutions that manage complex, highly structured data sets with domain-specific requirements
  • Create services and libraries that enable battery algorithm engineers and data scientists at Zitara to prototype, train, and deploy battery models across Zitara’s systems
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to more junior engineers on the team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building Python software applications in large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, and SQL
  • Familiarity with the full life cycle of software development, from design and implementation to testing and deployment
  • A love for our planet and a desire to contribute to solutions that address the climate crisis

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data platforms and machine learning systems and technologies
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Health, Dental, and Vision care for you and your family
  • 401K savings plan
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • An altruistic company mission
  • Excellent colleagues that are interested in your happiness and growth
