Senior Manager of Manufacturing Test Engineering

What You Will Be Doing

ChargePoint is looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to successfully develop, productize, and scale our factory test stations.

This role will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Early engagement with the Systems Design and Hardware Test Engineering teams influencing the design of factory test equipment.
  • Working with vendors to ensure equipment designs are as per specifications and monitoring tester health.
  • Analyzing and debugging failures, providing debug guidance to our team at the CM sites and interface with the Hardware Test Engineering team.
  • Implementing, and debugging new test platforms and evaluating test coverage with the broader engineering team to ensure high yields and lower cycle times on the test lines.
  • Driving factory test process optimizations and ensure test stations provide data that is reliable, repeatable and meets the quality expected (SPC, Cp/Cpk and GRR experience)
  • Facilities preparations, installation, validation, and training for new (NPI related) test systems
  • Periodic monitoring of test data for statistical trends to detect component, manufacturing and measurement system changes occurring through their lifecycles
  • This role requires an engineer who is self-driven, and highly motivated to gain in-depth knowledge of ChargePoint’s products and test processes. He or she will be ChargePoint’s first line of defense in ensuring that our testers are capable and scalable to meet the growing product volumes.

What You bring to ChargePoint

  • Experience in developing and deploying Test Equipment at scale (high volume)
  • Knowledge of industry standards/best practices to help test station design and factory layout.
  • Keen eye to home in on problems proactively by reviewing factory test data and coverage reports, gauge R&Rs.
  • Effective in building cross functional relationships to influence test coverage and station design
  • Experience with CM/Vendor management from prototyping, design of experiments to providing and reviewing test requirements.
  • Experience in supporting a global footprint of facilities and test teams, that rely on our global Manufacturing test team to keeping the test lines up and running.
  • Ability to provide 2nd level support to CM debug techs when necessary; escalate to other cross-functional teams as required
  • Feedback into quality and test teams to correct product defects, test station and process issues
  • Working knowledge of ICT, Hi-Pot and Ground Bond Testing.
  • Familiarity with ECR/ECO Process and special builds.
  • Experience in Test Stand, Lab View or Linux/Python based test software.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems engineering or RF experience
  • 5-8 years of industry experience
  • Experience working in an CMs/ODMs/OEMs
  • Ability to consolidate test requirements
  • Ability to read circuit schematics and to debug PCBA and electro-mechanical systems
  • Experienced user of electronic test equipment such as DMMs, Power Supplies, RF test equipment and signal acquisition devices
  • Experienced with configuring and maintaining custom test systems (HW and SW)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $52,500 to $119,500. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
