Director/Sr. Manager of Technical Operations
What You Will Be Doing:
ChargePoint is looking for a PCBA DFM Engineer to be an internal subject matter expert, helping deploy and maintain PCBAs across our global supply chain. This position will work closely with our manufacturing partners as well as our internal development and operations teams to deliver robust products that meet ChargePoint’s manufacturability, cost, quality and delivery objectives. You will be assigned to a product and be responsible for the manufacturability of its design through application of our design guidelines. You will build the assembly process and design the PCB panelization. You will use structured problem solving and data analysis methods to solve problems when things go wrong. You will share your new discoveries with your peers and to file patents for novel ideas that you develop. You’ll interact with specialists from other teams like Product Design, EE, PCB Layout, Program Managers, Reliability, TPM, Component Quality, Capex and others. You will communicate frequently and effectively to peers and leadership teams to keep them apprised of the status of your product. You will support (in person or remotely) the factory and our in region teams when your product is getting built.
A successful candidate must have proven experience in manufacturing engineering of complex high power electro-mechanical systems.
What You Will Bring to ChargePoint
Evaluate technical capabilities of quick turn and volume PCB/PCBA suppliers
Work with internal cross-functional teams to ensure products are optimized for manufacturability, cost, supply chain flexibility and efficiency (DFx)
Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, pre-proto through PVT, at the factory, Ensure line readiness for NPI builds and production ramp
Work with manufacturing partners to develop assembly tooling and/or automation equipment
Help optimize lines for capacity at contract manufacturing partners
PCBA DFM procedures and checklists
PCBA process parameters and procedures as guidelines for manufacturing partners
PCBA assembly workmanship standards
Data requirements at manufacturing partners
Monitor performance (yield, throughput etc.) of sustaining PCBA lines across the globe
Ensure proper implementation of engineering changes at the factory
Drive production process improvements to achieve quality, cost and yield goals
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience
6+ years direct hands on experience and know-how with fast paced, product design and product commercialization companies. Been through 3+ product life cycles from inception to EOL
Knowledge & direct experience in NPI operations and manufacturing engineering
Experience in DFx methodologies
PCB, PCBA and system level manufacturing experience, with emphasis on power and wireless technology
Able to perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
Experience with Continuous Process Improvement, Kanban and Lean manufacturing principals.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic startup environment
Program management experience, with excellent written and verbal English communication skills required
Able to communicate up and across (cross-functionally) succinctly and effectively
Ability to work with limited supervision
Up to 25% international and domestic travel may be require
Experience with Arena PLM system
Experience with Confluence and JIRA
