As a Senior Dynatrace Engineer, you'll be stepping into an environment that thrives on innovation and fun. Our team-oriented culture isn't just a buzzword; it's a cornerstone of our success. We're incredibly proud to have been recognized as a "Best Place to Work" by the Philadelphia Business Journal for 10 consecutive years.

We are seeking a Senior Dynatrace Engineer to join our IT operations team and lead the implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of our full-stack observability strategy. This role is deeply hands-on and will ensure end-to-end visibility across applications, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Dynatrace, networking, server administration, VMware, NetApp, Azure, AWS, and ITSM integration with ServiceNow.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and optimizing critical business applications, ensuring they perform at peak efficiency and are aligned with organizational SLAs and end-user experience expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Dynatrace Platform Administration

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Dynatrace for application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, and digital experience management.
  • Set up deep instrumentation for business-critical applications to capture metrics, logs, and traces across environments.
  • Create dashboards, alerts, and custom reports tailored for application owners, infrastructure teams, and leadership.
  • Leverage Davis AI for automated root cause analysis and anomaly detection.

Application Observability & Optimization

  • Work with development and DevOps teams to instrument applications running on Windows, Linux, and containerized platforms (AKS, EKS, or Kubernetes).
  • Monitor application response times, error rates, transaction flows, and dependencies across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks in web applications, APIs, databases, and middleware.
  • Collaborate with application owners to tune configurations and ensure scalability and high availability.

Infrastructure & Networking

  • Monitor and manage VMware ESXi/vSphere environments for performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Administer and monitor NetApp storage systems, ensuring they meet application workload requirements.
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking components such as load balancers, firewalls, switches, and DNS to ensure optimal application delivery.
  • Maintain performance baselines for infrastructure components and identify trends before they impact application health.

Cloud Environment Management

  • Integrate Dynatrace monitoring for hybrid workloads spanning Azure and AWS.
  • Monitor virtual networks, application gateways, cloud-native services, and databases.
  • Ensure cloud-hosted applications meet performance and security best practices.

ServiceNow Integration

  • Integrate Dynatrace alerts and incidents with ServiceNow for automated ticket creation and workflow execution.
  • Ensure incident workflows align with ITIL best practices and enable faster mean time to resolution (MTTR).

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (network, cloud, DevOps, application development) to implement monitoring best practices.
  • Document monitoring configurations, application maps, alerting logic, and troubleshooting playbooks.
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior staff.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure and application monitoring experience.
  • Proven hands-on expertise with Dynatrace configuration, deployment, and optimization.
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Experience managing VMware and NetApp environments.
  • Solid experience with both Azure and AWS platforms, including application monitoring and integration.
  • Experience integrating monitoring tools with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, including web, database, and middleware layers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dynatrace certification(s) (Professional, Associate, or Master).
  • Experience with microservices and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Background in performance tuning for high-volume transactional systems.
