Overview

The Senior Project Manager (PM) is a lead PM that is accountable for the delivery of complex software implementation projects within the utility industry and for providing delivery leadership that supports and strengthens our PMO team with their governance and standards.

The role combines hands‑on ownership of project delivery with leadership responsibility for defining and enforcing technical and consulting delivery best practices. The Director oversees projects from proposal through completion, ensuring delivery approaches, resourcing, risk management, and commercial controls are aligned with organizational frameworks.

The PM ensures effective assignment and management of technical and consulting resources, maintains control of project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and change management, and keeps project financial systems current and accurate.

Serving as the single point of accountability and client-facing leader, the PM maintains clear communication, executive‑level reporting, and proactive risk management, ensuring there are no surprises to the PMO or senior leadership, while driving consistent delivery quality, financial performance, and client outcomes.


Responsibilities

Duties and Skills

  • Be intimate with and adhere to the TRC Software Implementation Delivery Methodology.
  • Lead and manage the members of the project implementation team in daily support of the execution of delivery of software and services to our customers.
  • Plan, execute, and manage the activities of the team and indirect support resources to produce deliverables according to contract / customer requirements.
  • Ensure the project's budgeted costs and profits are met or improved.
  • Ability to strategize and implement methodology to increase project margins.
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive change order management.
  • Establishment of and maintenance of project cash flows.
  • Facilitate efficient project billing, working within company's accounting practices.
  • Able to implement earned value tracking and reporting.
  • Project schedule management including the development and upkeep of project schedules.
  • Ensure appropriate time, resources and schedule milestones are included in project planning and adherence during project execution.
  • Project administration including the proper capture and filing off all project documentation including, contracts documents, invoices, meeting minutes, project reports and communications.
  • Effectively communicate to the client, project team and TRC management including timely accurate internal and external reporting, executing effective efficient project meetings and ensuring communication between all project disciplines.
  • Lead development of delivery SOWs and provide support and delivery expertise for RFP responses.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews of the project with the PMO.
  • Project safety, demonstrating safety is a priority via safety leadership, adherence to TRC and client safety policies.
  • Support and adhere to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.

Qualifications

Leadership Requirements

  • Develop project management standards and processes to ensure successful project delivery and consistent project status reporting at portfolio level.
  • Identify, plan and implement key initiatives to improve quality, reduce cost, and increase productivity of project management.
  • Participate to the detailed specification of the integrated tool solution to monitor efficiently and reliably the health of projects (Lumpsum or Time and Material) for a portfolio of 350+ projects.
  • Leverages on deep knowledge of project resource and project financials management to define KPIs and best-in-class project data reporting.
  • Monitor and evaluate project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Educate Project Managers on Waterfall, Hybrid and Agile methodologies.
  • Conduct change: activate exceptional communication skills to engage all stakeholders in TRC and get their adoption of the proposed improvements
  • Training and mentoring of project managers, PMO consultants and PMO Analysts around the world.
  • Control quality: define and deploy quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular audits at project level, identify discrepancies or areas for improvement, and initiate corrective actions to ensure project deliverables meet established standards of quality.
  • Management and coach a matrix organization of Project Managers.
  • Acts as a champion to foster a positive project work environment; and successfully leads the team to accomplish all the project objectives on time and on budget.
  • Support Executive leadership in Project Delivery.

Personal Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business or Construction Management from an accredited school or University is required.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of software delivery experience is required, 8 is years is preferred. Utility industry background is desired.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills to deal with internal and external clients.
  • Experience with appropriate software tools (Microsoft Office, MS Project, Vision).
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with: Project Management, Project Controls, and Software Development and Implementation.
  • Travel: travel throughout EMEA may be required.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
