Overview

TRC is seeking a Strategic Account Director to join its highly successful Planning, Permitting, and Licensing (PPL) Practice in Portland, Oregon.

Organizational Reporting Structure: This role will report to the Vice-President Western Group Practice Leader with costs and revenue contained within Planning, Permitting, and Licensing (PPL).


Responsibilities

  • Function/purpose of role
  • Elements of projects and program management that include being the point person for solicitation requests, development of responses, and dissemination of requests to the correct person in operations depending on geographic need. Oversight of proposal response and project delivery teams including providing coaching and guidance to Junior Staff. Senior Project Management, delivery, and execution of project work for existing and new clients.

Summary: 60% (Project Management/Delivery/Execution) of role:

  • Execution of project work for key clients.
  • Collaborate with operations on a go-no go (GNG) decision and staffing decisions.
  • Operations staff are tasked with doing the work/heavy lifting associated with responding to a proposal, etc. This role will require championing efforts around positioning and capture.
    • Cross sector (Environmental Compliance, Power, Field Services, & Infrastructure) selling of services with a focus on energy transition and transportation. A key stakeholder in delivery and interfaces with clients regarding their satisfaction with TRC’s services.

Summary: 40% Client Management and Business Development role:

  • Collaboration with TRC’s Client Development Unit and National Marketing Group.
  • Key Client Account Management.
  • This portion is market and client facing.
  • Account Director is an influencer and will require rapport building across a variety of key stakeholders.
  • Liaison/advocate for OneTRC.
  • Goal is to grow and develop existing clients across sectors and new service lines; and
  • Getting to know clients, relationship building, pushing strategic initiatives, and influencing protocols to be more proactive and less reactive will underpin our success in driving this growth.

Other Additional Details

  • Target Utilization = 60%
  • Mentoring and Coaching – environmental planning, SME staff, other account managers
  • Recruiting – This new role is an investment in the overall environmental planning capabilities of TRC and is expected to play an active role in identifying and hiring environmental planning support staff, as identified to support existing and upcoming client deliverables
    • Build TRC’s environmental planning capabilities in PPL’s Western geography via the onboarding of staff in line with growth expectations.
  • Continue to focus on end market growth in the energy sector nation-wide accounts often based out of the WA and OR markets.
  • The project delivery work will continue to be PPL focused and the Business Development part of this role is one that gives the candidate the opportunity to grow cross practice/cross sector engagements.
  • Large Development Opportunities:
    • Identify opportunity
    • Enter into Salesforce
    • Focus on the win/capture strategy
    • Identify a “capture champion” and then build the capture team
    • Own the messaging and positioning
    • Win Strategy
    • Liaise with necessary operations groups to assemble an execution/delivery team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or other related fields of study.
  • 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, strong knowledge of state and federal project siting and environmental policy and regulations with demonstrated subject matter expertise in environmental projects and permitting.
  • Proven strong verbal, written, and presentation communication and writing skills. Strong time management and coordination of client matters and TRC team efforts a must. Demonstrated ability in leading multi-disciplinary technical teams, subcontractor and vendor engagement and the ability to lead and manage complex multi-media projects.
  • Proven capabilities and experience with management and oversight of cross-disciplinary technical and regulatory specialist teams of TRC professionals.
  • Understanding of and working proficiency with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for the region, especially as they apply to coastal development projects and the siting and environmental permitting of onshore, coastal, and offshore projects.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to clients, government agency personnel, and community stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or higher.
  • 20 or more years of experience.
  • Prior experience as a project manager on large-scale projects.
  • Senior Director experience.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
