Overview
TRC is looking for an experienced Principal Architect to join our Intelligent Grid Solutions team in the EMEA Energy Control Systems practice.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (Duties):
- Strategic Leadership
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of the organization's technical vision and strategy.
- Collaborate with the executive leadership team to align technical and project initiatives with overall business objectives
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
- Consultancy Services
- Performing management & technology consultancy services for our customers in e.g., SCADA/xMS, IT-OT integration, DERMS, WAMS, real-time and near-time data exchanges and analytics
- Lead and mentor project teams with technical experts, architects, and delivery teams
- Project and Program Oversight
- Oversee and perform the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex technical projects and programs.
- Expand customer relations to continue project engagements
- Technical Guidance
- Provide expert-level technical guidance, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles
- Collaborate with technical experts and architects to shape the direction of projects
- Build assets that can be reused within the company
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with business stakeholders, clients, and other department heads to understand technical requirements and provide strategic guidance
- Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, translating technical concept into business value
- Resource Planning
- Assess resource requirements for projects and programs, ensuring the optimal allocation of technical talent
- Identify opportunities for skills development and training to enhance the capabilities of the technical teams
- Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with projects, programs, and overall technical operations
- Implement strategic solutions to address complex technical challenges
- Innovation and Technology Trends
- Encourage innovation within the technical teams, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends
- Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption and integration into existing systems
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited school or university
- 12+ years of consultancy, advisory and/or delivery experience is required. A significant portion of this experience is expected to come from the utility industry
- Excellent knowledge of business processes and IT/OT architecture
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- In depth technical experience and utility industry knowledge
- Collaborative nature and willing to share knowledge across broader teams while contributing to reusable collateral
- Mentor and develop other resources on the team
- Conceptualize solutions across multiple business functions, processes and technical domains
- Ability to influence decisions
- Ability to interact with client teams at all levels within the organization including executives and client sponsors to the end users of the system.
- Experience with real time control systems like SCADA/xMS, IT-OT integration, DERMS, WAMS, real-time and near-time analytics
- Experience with cloud technologies and microservice-based architecture
- Experience with utility standards such as IEC-60870-5-104, ICCP, IEC 61968/ 61970/62325 (CIM)
- Travel: Up to 50% travel throughout Europe
- TOGAF certification
Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
