Overview
TRC is seeking a mid-level Project Manager with an active license as a Professional Engineer and 3 to 8 years of experience in site civil design to join our growing Engineering, Construction & Remediation team in Chicago, Illinois. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth, with demonstrated experience managing and reviewing environmental projects involving site civil design and or stormwater engineering, Clean Water Act and storm water projects, permitting for renewable energy projects, and/or SPCC Plans.
As a TRC employee, you will apply your existing knowledge and develop new skills while seeking out and working on challenging projects in Illinois and across neighboring states. You work primarily with staff in TRC's Madison and West Allis, Wisconsin offices, as well as with team members from across the Midwest and beyond. Our work with our clients is often challenging and fast-paced.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct projects, including the technical scope of work, project budget, and project schedule for TRC target and growth clients.
- Serve as an advocate and regulatory liaison for new and existing clients.
- Perform as a technical resource in fields of expertise and mentor entry and early career engineers.
- Coordinate with TRC staff or subcontractors on day-to-day Project tasks working toward long-term TRC/client goals, including managing logistics, schedule (planned or contingency), data reliability, and efficiency.
- Oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through completion. Utilization of PE seal may be required at completion. Meet goals for assisting clients in addressing their development challenges and goals by working with project teams to perform analyses.
- Prepare and submit cost and technical proposals to new and existing TRC clients for renewables projects and work as team member on development of larger project/program submittals.
- Prepare or review written reports for projects.
- Present information to clients, or to stakeholders or meetings on TRC or client’s behalf.
- Review reports prepared by others (e.g., solar facility decommissioning plans, SPCC Plans, etc.), and seal as reviewing P.E.
- Apply TRC health and safety and quality assurance/quality control processes to proposals and projects.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Achieve utilization of 70% once onboarding is complete.
TRAVEL
- Typically less than 10% - throughout the Upper Midwest
Qualifications
- Valid Professional Engineer License required; Illinois license preferred; however, ability to secure Illinois PE via reciprocity will be considered.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years in consulting and engineering or with a similar professional services firm.
- Experience with renewable energy projects and site civil or stormwater engineering design.
- Understanding of local, state, and federal level permitting for energy development (renewables).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel software.
- Valid driving license (with no major violations) and ability to pass a background check and OSHA physical.
Preferred
- Experience developing and reviewing SWPPPs for various facility types.
- Experience developing and certifying SPCC Plans for various facility types.
- Experience working with Class I railroad clients and various manufacturing clients in Illinois or other states.
- Ability to balance multiple clients and projects at one time.
- Opening is in Chicago, Illinois but work from other locations in the Midwest may be considered.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $79,331.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr.
