Overview

TRC is a global consulting firm providing environmentally advanced and technology-powered solutions for the oil and gas, power, and infrastructure industry. We are seeking an Operational Technology (OT) Applications Lead with experience with the ADMS, EMS, OMS, and/or SCADA Systems to join our TRC Digital team.

TRC Digital, a business unit within TRC, delivers IT/OT expertise and solutions to best address our client needs and has a proven track record supporting utilities in the deployment of complex operational technologies. We have broad capabilities for IT/OT project delivery while being highly specialized to meet the needs of each individual client. We are the trusted advisor and implementation partner for electric and gas utilities undergoing digital transformation and can offer deep experience across utility OT systems.

The OT Application Lead will be an essential part of our team to grow the consulting practice in the Operational Technology and Real-Time Systems domain.

You will be working on ADMS, EMS, OMS, and/or SCADA Systems that spans the electric utility’s operational and information technology domains. In this role, you will be building systems that improve the efficiency of the utility’s grid operations and capture information and data in support of their business functions. These systems will expand the utility’s Smart Grid capabilities by providing detailed insight into the operations of the electrical grid, from the generation of power to the delivery at the customer meter. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the electrical grid, which will reduce environmental impacts through the conservation of crucial resources.


Responsibilities

  • Lead projects and perform hands-on work with systems such as ADMS, OMS, EMS, SCADA, and GMS.
  • Serve as a Technical Lead for one or more workstreams on medium to large OT projects, ensuring successful delivery with customers and vendors.
  • Contribute to project planning, ensuring all technical dependencies in the assigned workstreams and overall project are accounted for.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand operational needs and support planning, configuration, testing, implementation, and cutover phases for OT systems.
  • Design and/or provide technical advisement on system build plans addressing software architecture, information security, integrations, and hardware deployments and/or software/application configurations.
  • Conduct system and acceptance testing with end customers to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Assist with solutioning to integrate third-party systems effectively.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and work with technical experts across various domains to resolve challenges.
  • Travel to customer sites to deliver, test, and integrate systems directly with customers.
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet contractual requirements and address any gaps through scope change agreements.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in an Application Engineering Lead role or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with products from major SCADA/EMS/DMS providers such as GE, OSII/AspenTech, ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or similar.
  • Proven experience supporting critical operational or information technology systems.
  • Familiarity with Distribution and/or Transmission Control Center operations.
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
  • Technical expertise in networking, security, operating systems, virtual environments, and systems integration.
  • Solid OT systems background with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across complex systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Willingness to travel, averaging 25%.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
