Overview

The Strategic Energy Management (SEM) Project Manager III is responsible for overseeing and driving the implementation of Strategic Energy Management processes. This leadership role involves supervising a team of energy coaches, designing and executing SEM strategies, fostering a culture of continuous energy improvement, and ensuring sustainable energy efficiency outcomes. The Project Manager III will collaborate with clients and internal teams to align energy initiatives with organizational goals, manage program delivery, and analyze performance data to demonstrate impact.


Responsibilities

Strategic Energy Management Leadership

  • Develop and implement comprehensive SEM plans to drive energy efficiency and performance improvements for clients.
  • Assess client organizational readiness for SEM adoption, identifying barriers and risks to successful implementation.
  • Design strategies to mitigate resistance, engage stakeholders, and secure buy-in for energy management initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather client input and align SEM strategies with client priorities.
  • Communicate the vision, benefits, and measurable impacts of SEM programs to client leadership and stakeholders.

Supervision of Energy Coaches

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of energy coaches responsible for administering SEM programs for clients.
  • Provide guidance and support to energy coaches to ensure consistent program delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and professional development sessions to enhance coaching effectiveness.
  • Coordinate team efforts to align with client needs, project timelines, and organizational objectives.

Continuous Energy Improvement

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and prioritizing energy efficiency opportunities across client portfolios.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile) to optimize energy processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with client teams and energy coaches to implement and sustain energy improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEM initiatives, adjusting strategies to maximize energy savings and performance.

Training and Development

  • Design and deliver customized training programs to support client teams in adopting SEM practices.
  • Develop training materials, guides, and tools to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development in energy management.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to client leaders and energy coaches to enhance their ability to drive energy efficiency.
  • Assess training needs and measure the impact of training programs on client energy performance and behavior.

Program Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of SEM programs, ensuring alignment with client goals.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Coordinate with energy coaches, clients, and stakeholders to maintain alignment and support for program objectives.
  • Track and report on program progress, milestones, and energy savings outcomes to clients and internal leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant energy regulations, standards, and client-specific policies.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze energy performance data to assess the impact of SEM initiatives on client operations.
  • Use data to identify trends, measure energy savings, and inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights into SEM program effectiveness.
  • Present energy performance findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.

Client Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure long-term success and satisfaction with SEM programs.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients to provide ongoing support and address challenges during program implementation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering expert guidance on SEM best practices and energy management strategies.
  • Resolve client concerns and adapt strategies to meet evolving client needs and priorities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in energy management, environmental science, engineering, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience in energy management, organizational change, or consulting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading energy efficiency programs or strategic energy management initiatives.
  • Experience supervising teams and managing client relationships in a consulting or energy management context.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide energy coaches.
  • Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar, applied to energy management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in energy data analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with experience managing multiple client programs simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering training programs tailored to energy management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Working Conditions

  • The role requires occasional travel to client sites, which may include industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities.
  • Work may be conducted in various settings, including client offices and industrial sites
  • Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate client schedules and project deadlines.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
