Overview
TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, decarbonization, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US. These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. TRC acts nationally to address some of our country’s most challenging problems: global climate change and energy independence.
TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Associate Project Manager to support delivery of energy efficiency initiatives primarily serving the residential, multifamily, and small-to-medium business sectors in New York State. Eligible candidates will be a hands-on, highly skilled resource with a combination of project management, project administration, and technical experience. Knowledge in electric heat pumps technologies and building science is critical. Mechanical or energy engineering, sustainability and/or energy efficiency expertise is preferred.
TRC seeks an individual with proven success managing a diverse set of responsibilities and with superb communication skills to grow with our company. The role will include supporting a statewide program, implementing a wide array of market-shaping initiatives, and interacting with heat pump manufacturers, distributors, installation contractors, and end use customers.
The position is located in New York State with varied office locations.
Responsibilities
- Support the NYS Clean Heat Quality Control program – assessing installation quality of recently incentive heat pumps.
- Coordinate and schedule site visits with residential homeowners, tenants, and commercial property owners;
- Perform on-site post-installation quality inspections at customer facilities to verify project application accuracy and project completion;
- Work with participating contractors to provide program training and guidance; establish relationships and actively maintain those relationships over time;
- Assist with new project application review and completed project fulfillment activities including documentation upload, data entry, and issue resolution;
- Work with customers and contractors to resolve discrepancies identified on site;
- Develop inspection reports that summarize on-site findings and include photographs and action items to resolve discrepancies;
- Report and record all required data relating to inspection activities in the applicable data collection tools;
- Share and solicit information, convey best practices with Program Management and Team Members; and provide solutions to address implementation issues;
- Track and correctly record program expenses and submit weekly expense reports for reimbursement;
- Support the Experience Clean Heat campaign – promoting public awareness and acceptance of heat pump technologies.
- Help recruit sites for promotional campaigns
- Communicate and coordinate between participating entities and TRC staff to arrange for site-staff training, signage, and events
- Compile program data from participating sites
- Support program pipeline tracking, data collection, and program reporting to the client.
- Identify potential issues with participating sites and communicate them to NYSERDA staff along with recommended solutions.
- Suggest improvements to program and project management processes.
- Write narratives and compile PowerPoint presentations on program performance and, if needed, present on said programs at meetings, conferences, and events.
- Keep informed of new products and market information of interest to our client;
- Maintain knowledge on energy efficient products and programs;
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-8 years of project experience related to energy efficiency or decarbonization
- Bachelor's preferred; Master's degree a plus but not required
- Experience with electric heat pumps, energy efficiency, and building science considerations related to high performance buildings
- Heat pump market understanding, including how to drive customer acceptance
- Established analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to set priorities, collect and document project requirements, successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management organizational skills, and attention to detail
- The ability to communicate technical topics to a range of technical and non-technical audiences through case studies and other materials
- Excellent computer skills: proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Team-oriented, hands-on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client-focused mentality.
- Ability to coordinate with other departments to support projects and development or refinement of strategies and processes
- Must be a self-starter and function well independently and in teams
- Sustainability/energy efficiency/building science certifications a plus but not required (including but not limited to: LEED, MFBA, CEM, PHI/PHIUS, CMVP, etc.)

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $76,107.00 - USD $82,784.00 /Yr.
