Overview
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented GIS Data Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting our GIS operations by creating, maintaining, and correcting the organization’s spatial data using GIS tools. This role specializes in visualizing data as meaningful information, enabling others to do their work better and gain insight through intuitive representations of organizational and external data
Responsibilities
- Utilize GIS software (experience with ArcFM/ESRI preferred) to perform basic data analysis, data conflation, editing, and manipulation tasks for the electrical distribution netwoork.
- Update the ArcFM/Esri GN data using various data sources. For example: update installation dates, material, manufacturer, etc. on the Electric Transmission and Distribution data.
- Contribute to the maintenance and updating of existing GIS datasets related to electrical network assets (substations, transformers, etc.).
- Support our GIS Tech Lead working in the US. All work will be done remotely.
- Compiles data from a variety of sources to create mapping products
- Prepare web maps to be incorporated in desktop, web, and mobile applications
- Design, prepare, and revise maps, charts, plans, three-dimensional models
- Maintain the data integrity and accuracy of the organization’s spatial information
- Conduct the activities necessary to maintain network schematic data and maps
- Edit, analyze, and perform QA/QC tasks utilizing GIS software
- Record detailed change notes and metadata
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with ArcFM Electric data is must.
- Strong understanding of GIS concepts and principles.
- Proficiency in data visualization and cartographic principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established protocols.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
