Overview
The Environmental Tech will work on a wide range of environmental projects in a team support role. With supervision and direction, apply theory and principles of geology and environmental science to various projects. Operate equipment and systems used in the collection of data associated with the prevention, control, assessment, and remediation of environmental contaminants including waste treatment and site remediation. This position includes field work such as logging numerical and visual observations, collecting samples of site matrices, preparing, and packing samples, recording test results, performing photo documentation, and routine administrative support functions for the office. There is ample opportunity to progress into project management from this position.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic environmental remediation and monitoring work in the field and office settings.
- Order, receive, set-up, test, and decontaminate equipment and maintain equipment to function properly.
- Responsible for accurately entering all data collected for assigned projects, reports, and preparing charts, graphs and sketches.
- Responsible for maintaining project files for assigned projects and providing project support.
- Provide written documentation of field activities to field team leader or project manager.
- Follow SOPs and directions in field and office settings.
- Understand, participate, and follow Health & Safety program and plans.
- Maintain safe working environment.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks, field activities and field reports.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge and understanding of geology and environmental science.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment across multiple organizational locations
- Strong safety focus and work ethic
- Familiarity with MSOffice work products and associated computer skills.
- Ability to operate field and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to collect and tabulate accurate observations of site conditions and collected media.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and take initiative to perform corrective action.
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training preferred
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
- Must be able to travel including extended out-of-town stays of varying durations
- Responsiveness and flexibility.
- Must be able to work outside, in variable weather and field conditions
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Required Training, Experience, Education and/or Skills:
- 6 months to 2 years of related work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science required
- 40 HAZWOPER Training Certificate a Plus
- Other related training a Plus

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
