A Certified Arborist/Consulting Utility Forester (CUF) is responsible for managing the distribution line clearance program, including patrolling distribution circuits and prescribing work to be performed by tree contractors, and conducting field audits and documenting results, and determining when the next trim is required. The CUF is also responsible for notifying property owners of tree pruning and tree/brush removal work to be performed relating to this specification, mapping circuits, managing internal/external customer requests, performing outage investigations and, when necessary, obtaining permits from public agencies, and documenting work using a hand-held computer or smartphone. In addition, the Arborist/CUF shall be required to use computers and associated software, enter data into and process data from hand-held devices. As requested by a Senior CUF, the Arborist/CUF shall perform all necessary duties for emergency response in accordance with all safety requirements, laws and regulations, and applicable labor agreements.

The Arborist/CUF shall maintain a positive working relationship with tree contractor in the Arborist/CUF's assigned area and ensure tree crews’ compliance with all company safety rules and applicable laws and regulations for worker and public safety, in addition to responsibility for timely resolution of customer complaints. The Arborist/CUF may be required to participate in public presentations and meetings.

*This position is supporting project work throughout Ohio and we are considering candidates nationally interested in traveling for project purposes*

• Managing the distribution line clearance program

• Handle timely resolution of customer complaints
• On occasion, may be required to participate in public presentations and meetings

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Forestry, Arboriculture, Environmental Science, Horticulture or related field
• Familiarity with Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems or Utility Vegetation Management/ability to learn utility infrastructure
• Valid Driver License and Clean driving record
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
• Ability to learn local tree species and growth rates
• Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to data requirements and technical detail
• Proficiency with electronic devices and systems, such as mobile devices, GIS programs, MS Excel/Word
• Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
• Availability and willingness to travel during the week
• Possess an ISA Arborist Certification
• Ability to obtain relevant pesticide license
• First aid and CPR

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications are not required for an applicant to be considered a candidate for the position.

• 1-2 years’ work experience in the field preferred

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
