TRC is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer for our growing team. The ideal candidate must be passionate about engineering and enjoy working with a talented team of designers, engineers, project managers, and other technical staff in preparing designs for electrical, instrumentation and controls, and SCADA systems for water, wastewater and other industrial projects for a variety of great clients.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Electrical Engineering Practice Leader and be responsible for electrical design and engineering services during construction for assigned projects.
The following office locations may also be considered for the position, depending on candidate skills and qualifications: Houston , TX or With PE can be anywhere in US.
Primary Responsibilities
- Performs complex calculations and applies standards correctly without supervision. Takes lead when works with peers.
- Reviews the work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents as needed for the project.
- Regularly performs reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
- Leads mid to large-size project or proposals.
- Develops and leads others in ways of improving the design and lowering cost.
- Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis.
- Manages several different assignments simultaneously.
- Utilizes industry and company standards to design and engineer effectively.
- Serves as resource to less experienced engineers.
- Reviews application of standards for correct interpretations (including NEC).
- Leads team to identify changes in the scope of work during mid to large-sized projects.
- Produces design changes as needed to stay within budget and schedule.
- Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
- Establishes credibility in terms of technical competency and team leading ability.
- Prepare engineering deliverables consisting of one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment data sheets, development plans and design specifications, hazardous area classification drawings, electrical power studies (SKM/ETAP), etc.
- Strong understanding of SCADA communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3) and system security measures.
- Design, configure, and implement SCADA systems for water & wastewater treatment plants, power distribution, etc.
- Develop and integrate SCADA systems with existing PLCs, HMIs, and other control systems
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering minimum required.
- 5- 10 years relevant experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Texas (P.E. License).
- NCEES records up to date to obtain P.E. License reciprocity in other States as needed.
- Travel is expected.
- Self directs work with limited supervision.
- Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced engineers.
- Leads small team to complete task/design on project.
- Work with project team as representative and coordinates work within discipline department.
- Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
- Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations. Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
- Communicates effectively with supervisor and members of immediate department.
- Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems. Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
- Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
- Serves as technical resource and point of contact for external or internal customers.
- Knowledge of industry codes, guidelines, and regulatory standards to include NEC, NFPA and API.
- Experience with Medium/low voltage power distribution systems.
- Experience with SKM and/or ETAP Electrical Power System Analysis software (including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination).

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
