Overview

TRC has an immediate opening within our Technical Development Unit for a Strategic Emerging Contaminant Director with proven experience related to emerging contaminants, especially PFAS. The position requires a strong business development, technical, and financial background and a solid reputation of building and maintaining key client relationships in the PFAS market.

The Technical Development Unit is a team of national experts that work together and with other experts across the environmental sector to promote technical excellence and support growth within TRC.

The identified candidate can work from varied locations in the US.


Responsibilities

  • Serve as a national expert and will report to the Director of the Technical Development Unit.
  • Develop and lead strategic planning to drive increase in TRC’s position and market share for PFAS related services and internally guide the strategy in collaboration with the PFAS Initiative Leader.
  • Have a significant role in promoting and developing expertise to position TRC as a leader in Emerging Contaminants in our industry.
  • Join and serve a leading role in various TRC’s Center of Research & Expertise (CORE) teams and collaborate with our experts’ in identification of new services and innovative technologies to help support our clients and TRC’s growth.
  • Actively support branding and business development activities, provide input to and lead the business planning process and strategic pursuits, identify new market opportunities, contribute to and lead proposal development, and help to maintain strong relationships with key planning leaders.
  • Support the implementation of the current account and strategic initiative plans, working closely with account managers, executive sponsors, Client Development Unit/Business Development leadership, operations leadership, and Practice Market Directors.
  • Support client managers, project managers, and business development leaders with technical sales content, presentations, and other support.
  • Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, and delivery of responsive, high quality services for the environmental sector (e.g., air, water, waste water, storm water, sustainability, and remediation).
  • Attend client meetings to interact directly, focusing on positioning for growth of TRC services and bring forward potential new long-term strategic revenue opportunities/
  • Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market growth and results from actionable ownership, strategy and tactics.

Qualifications

  • BS or advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology/hydrology, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years’ of experience selling and delivering environmental compliance and/or investigation and remediation services through a consulting/engineering firm.
  • Recent client relationships within the commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Experience developing and making presentations to potential clients, especially in conference settings.
  • Experience in preparing proposals and managing work.
  • Knowledge of PFAS and emerging contaminants chemistry, fate & transport, risk assessment and/or toxicity.
  • Knowledge of innovative remediation and treatment technologies.
  • Experience working in and managing cross multi-disciplinary scientific and engineering teams.
  • Demonstration of expert knowledge through project and client interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills applicable to project team, regulatory agencies, and public in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
  • Extensive experience with presentations, document development and review, effective personal communications (oral, written, computer), and project leadership.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and excellent client management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability leading and managing complex proposals and projects.
  • Goal oriented, quality focused, and committed to fostering a team environment.
  • Strong business acumen and attributes, coupled with a commitment to TRC Values: Safety, Quality, Integrity, Creativity, Accountability, Teamwork and Passion.

Desired Requirements

  • Advanced degree (MSc. or PhD) in relevant science or engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Personal subject matter expertise and credentials/license(s) is preferred.
  • National recognition/reputation is a plus.
  • Established client relationships managed by the candidate is a plus.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
