Overview

TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Team Leader for one of our nation-wide geospatial solutions teams. The individual must have at least seven years of prior GIS experience with some consulting experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

This individual can work from various locations across the US.

The successful candidate must:

  • have excellent communication and organizational skills to work as a member of a larger GIS team to complete project tasks.
  • be capable of inspiring and enabling innovation among members of their team.
  • collaborate with project managers, clients, and GIS staff to ensure that quality and timely GIS support is provided on all projects.
  • keep abreast with current GIS technology and be responsible for discovering and implementing new technology with assistance from other members of the TRC GIS team.
  • be able to manage multiple projects needs concurrently and, in a time-sensitive manner

The applicant should demonstrate proficiency and experience using GIS software including but not limited to ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS for Desktop 10.8+ suite and the implementation and development of Web based GIS platforms using ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.


Responsibilities

  • Develop staff, including goal setting, performance evaluations, mentoring, and recruiting.
  • Supervise a team of GIS professionals
  • Plan and control work process, including the following:
    • Manage resources to meet utilization objectives.
    • Lead process improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure quality control procedures are implemented.
    • Mentor and monitor standard operating procedures.
    • Implement safety protocols.
  • Team with upper management to develop strategy and tactics to grow the team.
  • Manage projects, including financial management, contract negotiation, directing technical work, and client and regulatory liaison.
  • Perform as a technical resource in field of expertise and mentor to others.
  • Achieve available utilization of at least 70%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 year(s) GIS or related work experience.

Required GIS Competencies

Data Entry/Conversion: Able to convert data from multiple sources and formats (CAD, GIS, GPS, image, text, etc.) to a common format or common schema. Able to enter and edit data successfully with minimal errors.

Cartography and Graphic Design: Able to express graphically, usually through maps, the features within a GIS.

Advanced GIS Analysis: Able to utilize GIS applications to perform advanced spatial analysis or data conversion or manipulation. i.e. raster/surface manipulation, mosaic, modify and repurpose imagery for other software. Able to use applications and scripts to create automated geoprocessing workflows.

Geodatabase Development & Design / Data Models: Able to utilize GIS applications to build a GIS, i.e. data mining, geodatabase design, data conversion, etc. Able to define data requirements needed to support business processes.

GPS Device/Applications: Able to configure and troubleshoot various GPS devices and mobile data collection applications.

Application of GIS/Problem Solving: Able to translate client needs to solutions using GIS technology. Able to identify the best tool for the job based on experience and knowledge of what is possible.

Web Applications/Services: Able to create map services and interactive web applications.

Travel and Workplace

The GIS Team Leader is a hybrid position.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
