Assistant Controller

Swimlane is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the VP of Finance in overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial operations and internal controls, with the ability to work cross-functionally to support business objectives. You will play a key role in scaling our accounting processes, improving financial systems, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and assist with the development and documentation of new procedures as we scale
- Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger
- Assist with financial audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance
- Oversee accounting and payroll compliance for foreign subsidiaries, including intercompany reconciliations, consolidations, and FX
- Collaborate with FP&A, HR, Legal, and other departments to provide financial insights and support company initiatives
- Help evaluate and implement improvements in financial systems and automation tools
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, promoting a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Research and implement accounting policies for complex transactions (e.g., revenue arrangements, equity, leases).
- Supervise and mentor a U.S.-based Senior Accountant while overseeing outsourced subsidiary accountants to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant accounting across entities
- Support special projects and analysis as needed by the VP, Finance and executive team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including time in both public accounting and private industry
- Experience in a SaaS or technology company is required
- CPA preferred
- Deep understanding of financial reporting and internal control processes
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar) and financial reporting tools
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
Location: This is a remote position, and candidates must be current United States residents at the time of application in order to be considered.

The base salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000 annually and is dependent on skills and experience. This position may be eligible for variable compensation, which will be discussed as part of the interview process.
