We are hiring for a Design Engineer. This individual should have a working technical knowledge of distribution transformers overhead and pad mounted and the associated manufacturing processes. In this role, you will be involved with creating customer designs and developing the design for manufacturing details for single and 3-phase transformers. Working knowledge of IEEE standards and comprehension of customer requirements are key requirements of the position.


  • Designs from basic concepts and able to identify changes, methods, or opportunities to improve the manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
  • Involvement in various product testing to validate the development of products.
  • Understand customer specifications and identify the critical requirements.
  • Respond to customers questions, support the factory when design issues occur and support marketing when quoting units.
  • Interacts with marketing, field sales and customers to determine alternative, creative solutions or improvements based on their needs.
  • Will include guidance of junior engineers and other cross-functional personnel as it relates to the implementation of projects and technical solutions.


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical and/or mechanical degree required along with a minimum of 3 years’ in mechanical/electrical design.
  • 2 years’ experience using CAD software (2D and 3D modeling).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Access.
  • Experience with SolidWorks/Inventor.
  • Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Knows transformer design.
  • Transformers design software handling.
  • Application of engineering knowledge using advanced concepts and principles of engineering theory.
  • Requires proven ability to effectively problem solve with both technical and non-technical situations.
  • Interactive abilities to function in a leadership capacity when working with customers, suppliers, and othe functional personnel.
  • Work Environment/Travel/ Physical Requirements:
  • Position contingent on passing all applicable fit for duty requirements.
  • Maybe required to climb, bend or squat on occasion.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move 20-35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
