About the Role:
Job Title: Senior Firmware Infrastructure Engineer
Experience: 6 - 12 years
Reporting to: Manager, Firmware Infrastructure
Job Type: Full-Time
As a Senior Firmware Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for automating and optimizing firmware build processes, managing system infrastructure and CI/CD workflows, identifying and resolving inefficiencies in firmware development and testing processes, and debugging complex issues across firmware, software, and hardware integration layers.
What you’ll do:
- Improve and maintain robust infrastructure that supports the full lifecycle of firmware development, from build systems to deployment pipelines, with a focus on embedded systems
- Develop and optimize build and release processes using Bazel in a large-scale monorepo to optimize build and release of C/C++ binaries and libraries for POSIX, RTOS, bare metal systems
- Automate every step possible from code checkout, compilation/build, static analysis, unit testing, integration testing, packaging, and deployment/release using Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.
- Architect and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, AWS, and Kubernetes to ensure fast, reliable, and repeatable firmware builds and releases.
- Work closely with fellow engineers to support the build and deploy process and ensure seamless integration across the stack.
- Diagnose build and integration issues and implement sustainable solutions that improve reliability and developer productivity.
- Act as an internal advocate and support engineer, providing tools guidance, and documentation that empower your teammates to ship faster and more confidently.
- Continuously evaluate and improve tooling, processes, and workflows to meet the growing demands of a scaling engineering organization.
What you should know:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
- You have worked with Bazel and have a strong understanding of how Bazel works, how remote execution works, and how to write Starlark to extend Bazel
- You have a strong understanding of C/C++ tooling in an embedded firmware context.
- You consider yourself Fullstack and have the ability to design and implement complex tools in Python and Bash
- You have utilized and configured systems like Gitlab CI, Jenkins, Buildkite, Spinnaker, or other CI/CD tools
- A strong understanding of Git concepts and branching workflows
- You are passionate about improving organizational efficiency by creating tools, products and providing support and documentation for your fellow engineers
- Experience with containerized CI/CD pipelines, and creating reproducible builds from development to production
- Administration and development experience in a Linux environment
- GCP or AWS and Kubernetes experience is a plus
