OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will perform duties that support the cross-functional Houston team and will work closely with the CI Manager and staff to support continuous improvement activities focused on the RS Business Maturity Assessment. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and document 5S+1 improvement activities that focus on elimination of the "7 Wastes".
  • Assist with documentation and training of standardized work, process work instructions and procedures in partnership in QMS coordinator.
  • Supports CI Manager in Kaizen events and improvement activities.
  • Lead shop floor improvement activities such as signage, marking labeling, painting, floor mapping, visual displays, containerization, standardized cleaning and shadow board implementation.
  • Monitor adherence to standardized cleaning schedules and track progress.
  • Participation in Gemba walks and documentation of findings.
  • Prioritize tasks generated from Gemba walks, implement corrective measures in conjunction with Continuous Improvement Coordinator, and continuously update task list.
  • Strengthening employee engagement through support of suggestion and recognition programs.
  • Regularly update plant KPI performance board.
  • Data collection and analysis with spreadsheeting, charts, graphs.
  • Preparing reports and presentations of analyzed data in support of continuous improvement activities.
  • Conduct regular audits – Business Maturity Assessment, Layered Process Audits, QMS Audits.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CI Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience.
  • 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing and/or industrial production environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel – data entry, analysis, tables, charts; PowerPoint – presentations)
  • Be flexible with shifts

Preferred:

  • Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives that support the advancement of the RS Business Maturity Assessment (BMA) and assist the team in achieving KPIs.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience and knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements would be an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Industrial manufacturing and production environment. • Exposure to hot and humid conditions in both indoor and outdoor work areas. • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, bending, and occasional physical movement throughout the Facility. • Ability to provide timely support in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. • Regular interaction with chemicals, heavy machinery, and moving equipment, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures.
