OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Tech is responsible for inspecting, preforming lab test on all products to ensure all products conform to RS and Customer specifications. As a member of the RS team, this position will support an organizational culture that cares for other's well-being through best practices in health and safety, in addition to the company's values of respect, integrity, quality, teamwork and professional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts quality inspections at various stages of the production process per RS/Customer Specification.
- Assist with Supplier development.
- Preform Incoming inspections and maintain proper records per SOP requirements.
- Work with production operators in ensuring the quality of the product at all stages of the production process.
- Preform various laboratory tests per Work Instructions to ensure product conformity to RS and Customer Specifications.
- Prepare test reports.
- Maintains lab safety and helps maintain lab cleanliness.
- Performs inspections of poles for custom cut lengths, drill patterns, and final inspections against engineering drawings.
- Conduct other pre-production, final product and shipping inspections.
- Maintain both electronic and hard copies of quality records.
- Inform Quality Manager of any discrepancies in tests or inspections.
- Serve as backup for all other quality tech positions.
- Perform Calibration inspection of various gauges/tools per RS SOP's and maintain accurate records.
- Report all equipment related issues to the Quality Manager.
- Ensure proper inventory of materials to perform the job.
- Assist the Engineering Department in the research, trial/development, selection of new processes and equipment to improve processes.
- Assist in training and cross training of team members.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with QMS Audits.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Comply with all Company Safety rules.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma at a minimum, Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- One to three years' experience within a Quality role in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Engineering print reading knowledge and experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Industrial production environment. Hours will be from 11-7pm then moving into Continental shifts.
- Time critical support required.
- Interaction with chemicals, heavy machinery, and moving equipment.
