THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager, Materials to lead materials planning, purchasing, scheduling, and shipping operations at our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Plant Director, this role is critical to ensure customer orders are accurately scheduled, completed, and delivered on time while maintaining efficient inventory levels and strong supplier partnerships.
Working closely with Production, Purchasing, and Operations leadership, the Manager, Materials will be responsible for developing and managing the master production schedule, overseeing inbound and outbound logistics, and continuously improving materials planning and MRP processes. As a member of the RS management team, this role plays a key part in supporting a collaborative, safety-focused culture aligned with RS values and operational excellence.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position is responsible for ensuring that RSUS schedules and ships its products accurately and on time. This includes:
- Creating the master build schedule and support winding, order prep and pultrusion schedules
- The management of the incoming material and outgoing product shipment activities
- Coordinate sourcing activities with Corporate Purchasing
- Manages the local purchases of agreed upon commodities, inventory levels, physical inventories along with on-going cycle counts and management of shipping activities
- Administration of customs related activities for import and export of all materials
- Managing and improving the use of the MRP system within the company
- Reports on incoming materials and outgoing shipments, maintaining data for these operations
- Supports other members of the RS staff in R&D and process development activities
- Works to maintain a cooperative team culture in the facility
- Works to maintain plant cleanliness and orderliness
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or similar field required
- 5 + years of Materials management experience
- Demonstrated people management experience
- Experience managing raw materials
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Epicor)
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications
- Knowledge of scheduling, procurement and shipping
- Lean manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies and certifications
- Knowledge of 5S principles
