The Opportunity
As a Commercial Data Analyst, you'll play a critical role in driving data-informed decisions across our commercial organization. You'll collect, analyze, and interpret sales and market data, build forecasts, and develop insights that shape strategy and execution. This is a dynamic role that blends analytics, market intelligence, and cross-functional collaboration to help RS identify growth opportunities, monitor performance, and strengthen our competitive position.
What You'll Do
SALES & MARKET ANALYTICS
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sales data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities.
- Conduct market and competitor research to evaluate industry trends, customer behavior, and competitive positioning.
- Perform pricing analysis to assess impact on sales volume, revenue, and profitability, making recommendations for adjustments.
FORECASTING & PERFORMANCE MONITORING
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and projections based on historical data, customer behavior, and market conditions.
- Track sales performance against targets and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and growth.
- Create dashboards and regular reports that translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
STRATEGY & COLLABORATION
- Partner with commercial, sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to align analytics with business needs.
- Support the development of data-driven sales strategies, promotional campaigns, and product positioning.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity by collaborating with Finance and IT on ERP, CRM, and BI system management.
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of tools such as Power BI, Epicor ERP, and Salesforce CRM.
- Streamline reporting processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay current with industry developments and emerging technologies to strengthen RS's analytical capabilities.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, mathematics, data science, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or sales/commercial analytics.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, statistical tools, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with CRM (Salesforce) and ERP systems (Epicor) is an asset.
- Strong business acumen, with knowledge of sales processes, forecasting, and pipeline analysis.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Utility industry knowledge is a plus.
