OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Manager, Production the Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient daily operations of the plant. This includes the supervision of resin blending, module production and order preparations. As a member of the RS management team, this position will support an organizational culture that cares for other's well-being through best practices in health and safety, in addition to the company's values of respect, safety, resilience, and teamwork.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the efforts of the production, order prep and skilled trades (Maintenance) employees
  • Maintaining a professional and positive attitude towards employees, management, and customers
  • Assist with scheduling of production operators
  • Assist and monitor the cross training of production operators to ensure all individuals are adept in all areas of the production process
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the production process
  • Ensure safety talks are conducted monthly
  • Conduct shift communication meetings daily
  • Troubleshoot areas of concern, and identify the most productive way of addressing these issues
  • Maintain communication with the Quality Department to identify and address areas of concern
  • Communicate production feedback to the Quality Control Manager, Production Manager, and Director of Operations
  • Ensure production schedules are adhered to and production targets met
  • Ensure materials required for production are readily available
  • Assist in the research, trial/development, selection of new processes & equipment to improve the production process
  • Report employee attendance and coordinate vacation scheduling as required
  • Conduct progressive discipline with employees as required
  • Utilization of employees during downtime
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Report all equipment related issues to the Director, Operations
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Comply with all Company Safety rules, Provincial and Federal Rules and Regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience
  • General knowledge of OSHA legislation
  • General knowledge of applicable labor legislation
  • Lean manufacturing principles an asset
  • Six sigma certification an asset
  • Knowledge of 5S principles an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including intermediate level experience with Excel and Word

  • Night shifts
  • Industrial production environment
  • Hot & humid areas within the plant
  • Physically demanding tasks
  • Interaction with heavy machinery, moving equipment and limited movement of chemicals within the production area
