ABOUT THE ROLE

The General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing and managing all corporate legal matters, including HR-related legal issues, organizational compliance, management of legal entities, and insurance. This role will also include the review and negotiation of contracts, purchase orders (POs), and other legal documents. A strong background in the startup SaaS industry is essential.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Corporate Legal Oversight: Manage and provide legal guidance on all corporate legal matters, including HR policies, compliance, and governance of legal entities.
  • Contract Management: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, POs, and other legal documents to ensure the company’s interests are protected.
  • Risk Management: Oversee the company’s insurance policies, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, particularly those impacting the SaaS industry.
  • Legal Strategy: Advise the executive team on legal risks, business strategies, and other corporate legal matters.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary legal liaison between the company and external legal counsel, regulators, and other key stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

This also means that you are effective at managing multiple tasks of varying complexities, work well under pressure, and are driven by continuous learning and growth. Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following toolbox:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in a state bar association.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate law, with a focus on the SaaS industry.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and management, particularly in the technology sector.
  • Strong understanding of HR legal issues, corporate governance, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with global legal practices and regulations highly desirable.
