ABOUT THE ROLE

Power Factors is seeking a talented Senior Sales Engineer to join our growing Global Sales Engineering team. Sales Engineering is an entrepreneurial, cross-functional discipline at Power Factors that requires multiple skill sets and involves significant interaction and coordination with our prospective customers and internal teams. We work in tight collaboration alongside Account Management, Sales, Business Development, and the Product teams to deliver consistent and comprehensive proposals and messaging to our customers. The role serves as the primary technical contact for the customer throughout the sales process. As such, the Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for collecting customer requirements, developing both technical and commercial proposals and conveying the overall solution to the customer catering to their depth of understanding. Post-sale the role interfaces with engineering and customer success among others to ensure a seamless handoff and fulfillment of project commitments.

Power Factors works with the world’s most prominent renewable energy companies, and the Sales Engineering team is responsible for setting top-notch, professional first impressions. Clear, efficient verbal and written communication, asking the right questions, active listening, and learning are paramount in your efforts to build relationships and trust, both individually and between organizations. You will have the mandate to ensure a smooth customer experience from top-of-funnel sales engagements through contract signing, and you will build the templatized tools and processes that will enable the company to continue to effectively scale.

The role reports to the Sales Engineering Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Coordinate technical components of commercial discussions and engage with clients and colleagues to collect and interpret project documentation.
  • Collaborate with the wider sales team and subject-matter-experts to develop and present proposals for our products and services in response to client RFP/RFQ’s.
  • Manage scope alignment, identify gaps, and roadmap commitments between Sales and Product.
  • Maintain product databases by routinely engaging with product vendors to ensure the team is using up to date pricing and is aware of product availability.
  • Conceptualize and design the overall system architecture of the proposed solution in terms of plant network, plant control and data acquisition functions and integration with other systems, delivery substation protection as well as remote platforms. Close cooperation with Delivery, IT and Product teams is assumed.
  • Enter customers and project information into CRM, manage templates and document repositories.
  • Deliver sales presentations with a keen awareness and deep understanding of the audience’s desired outcomes and pain points and how the Power Factors’ offering addresses them.
  • Represent Power Factors at industry events and trade shows.
  • Schedule and host project hand-off meetings with internal teams responsible for scope execution, including Engineering and Customer Success teams.
  • Quickly jump into complex problems and navigate competing priorities to drive solutions, using a combination of interpersonal and technical skillsets.
  • Contribute to company process improvement and documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following toolbox:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, etc.
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience with technical product/project management, estimation, and IT/networking in the renewable and storage industry (including utilities, EPCs, third-party O&M organizations, etc.)
  • Experience with Operational Technology (SCADA, automation systems, etc.) and the ability to interpret networking, data flows and electrical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with drawing tools (CAD, Sketchup, Visio, or others) and experience drafting diagrams to facilitate sales conversations.
  • Proven track record of successful performance in fast-paced environments coupled with the skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Fluent in English with clear and concise written and oral communication.
  • Ability to think technically and manage both details and the big picture.
  • Skilled in connecting with all relevant audiences within an organization with the right message and detail.
  • Experience performing autonomously as an individual contributor and as a project coordinator.
  • Capacity to create solutions and solve problems through logical and innovative techniques; take responsibility; drive resolution; execute.
  • Process-oriented with a demonstrated history of managing resource conflicts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Using and configuring DAS/SCADA systems
  • Familiar with electric industry standard communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC60870-5-104/101, IEC61850 etc.)
  • Technical writing, marketing, and RFP responses
  • Salesforce or equivalent CRM or ERP
