ABOUT THE ROLE
We are Power Factors, developer of the world’s leading cloud platform for renewable energy. We are now looking for an Engineer, DevOps to complete our dynamic team. As a part of the Tooling and Operations Team, under the Implementation Services (IS) department, your role will be to develop and operate infrastructure and systems used for our data ingestion services to integrate customer Wind and Solar assets into our platform. You will also develop and maintain tooling used by our Implementation engineers when integrating new assets.
As an Operations Engineer, you will face various tasks related to the integration of renewable assets and their data into their platforms. You will develop, maintain and operate services such as:
- VPN systems used to enable connectivity for a large amount of customer assets
- File services, such as FTP servers for processing incoming files from our customers
- Hosting environment for several in-house or third-party applications/services
Also, you will develop and maintain solutions that help the implementation of sites in an automated way, such as customer-specific tooling to configure meta data and data connection details.
Furthermore, we are constantly striving to improve our infrastructure, processes, and data quality of renewable energy assets. You are expected to work in a continuous improvement cycle, participating in internal projects or tasks to improve the team’s day-to-day work and processes.
We are made up of hard-working, fun-loving people who are passionate about making the world better. We are a very international team spread across multiple locations, with a team spirit that is truly hard to beat! We work with agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum.
This position will be placed either in Sweden or in Spain. You will need to be eligible to work in any of the countries mentioned to be considered for this position.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Work with our Technical Project Managers (TPM), Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Implementation Engineers (IE) to understand what is needed to optimize implementation of assets.
- Develop, maintain and automate deployment of infrastructure and services hosted in Amazon Web Services
- Create new tools in the form of simple scripts or slightly more advanced applications that help with the implementation, data connection and / or QA processes. Python, Linux bash, Microsoft Power Shell would likely be the main technologies you will use.
- Perform root cause analysis of production errors and resolve technical issues
- When needed, participate in internal projects aiming to achieve a more global and strategic goal within the team, always in the context of automatic ways to improve the implementation and QA processes.
- Team up with other teammates or developers across different teams to achieve common goals.
- Take over and own tools developed by other teams that help IS in automatizing an implementation process. This includes occasional support to the IE when issues on the tools are discovered
- Contribute with your feedback and ideas on our processes and way of working, so that we continuously improve as a team.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
We are looking for a team member who is systematic and autonomous - but who also enjoys being a part of a tight-knit team. You feel comfortable working with others when needed, able to share ownership of tasks and communicate effectively with peers. This also means that you are effective at managing multiple tasks of varying complexities and are driven by continuous learning and growth. We would need someone able to take initiatives in designing the tools with sustainability, reusability, and growth in mind so that our toolbox grows over time.
Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following toolbox:
