Overview
The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring effective/efficient flow of materials from order placement through completion of units, which supports Manufacturing and Operations objectives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily operations for the flow of materials, and address concerns as necessary with Operations, Scheduler, Design, etc. to support production targets.
- Resolve and provide corrective actions for material downtime.
- Facilitate the timely order and replenishment of materials through ERP or Kanban/Visual System tools.
- Seek approvals from Design Engineering and Quality for any substitution of products that may be necessary. Follows established process for ICN’s.
- Manage past due or expedited orders to support production targets.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain Kanban levels that relate to pull-system requirements for assigned area.
- Analyze workloads and material flow in assigned area to adjust inventory on Kanban levels to support customer demand.
- Lead efforts to ensure that all visual systems are being maintained with timely and accurate information.
- Coordination and roll out of new or modified components as identified per Production Control Manager.
- Support VRMA/MRR process to ensure timely closure.
- Develop good relations with key PPI suppliers.
- Monitor daily operations of assigned area to ensure all safety guidelines and procedures are compliant.
- Create a positive, proactive, problem-solving environment.
- Communicate with strategic sourcing regarding vendor availability, performance, and emerging trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain. Preferred degrees include Business, Engineering, Finance, or Supply Chain.
- Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- All manufacturing materials are received in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner such that internal and external customer needs are met or exceeded.
- Inventories of raw materials are accurately located and WIP is maintained at the appropriate levels.
- Support manufacturing raw material needs and processes in a lean manner.
- Demonstrate accountability and ability to hold others accountable.
- Is fair, consistent, and respectful in all situations.
- Achieves credibility at all levels through technical competence, drive, follow through behaviors, and solid communication skills.

- Support Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Design, etc.
- Skilled at designing and mentoring of 5S standards and visual systems.
- Understands the processes and operation of the entire plant, including customer expectations.
- Work without close supervision, understanding what needs to be done, and taking required actions to complete.
- Provide creative solutions to material emergencies.
- Support Quality Audit process.
- Skilled using computer applications including MS Office, Exchange, and Syteline ERP.
- Physical Requirements:
- Position contingent on passing all applicable fit for duty requirements.
