The Systems Engineer, Controls role is responsible for supporting power controls and thermal management controls of Moxion’s next generation products. Your primary responsibility will involve developing architecture and controls requirements to facilitate integrated solutions that efficiently manage power distribution and thermal conditions within our complex system. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of power control systems, considering factors such as load balancing, voltage regulation, and power efficiency.
Additionally, you will be responsible for optimizing thermal management controls to maintain optimal operating temperatures and prevent overheating in critical components, utilizing advanced techniques and technologies to ensure system reliability and performance. Your expertise will play a vital role in delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet safety standards, enhance system efficiency, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Designing and implementing power control systems for various electrical components and devices, ensuring efficient power distribution, load balancing, and voltage regulation.
  • Developing and integrating thermal management controls to maintain optimal operating temperatures and prevent overheating in critical system components.
  • Supporting thermal analysis and simulations to optimize thermal performance and identify potential areas for improvement in the system design.
  • Supporting testing and validation of power control and thermal management systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Researching and staying updated with the latest advancements in power control and thermal management technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Generate detailed design documentation, including schematics, design specifications, and test reports. Prepare technical reports and present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and clients as necessary.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software engineers, and mechanical engineers, to ensure cohesive system design and implementation. Collaborate on system-level integration and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations for power electronics, AC power systems, and inverter controls. Stay informed about safety standards, EMC regulations, and other applicable requirements.

Skills to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in designing and implementing power control systems and thermal management solutions.
  • Ability to tune and optimize control algorithms, specifically PID controllers, for power and thermal systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations related to power controls and thermal management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues related to power and thermal performance.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements. We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience. Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change.
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
