Koloma is a geologic hydrogen company that leverages its proprietary data, human capital and intellectual property advantages to identify and commercialize these resources on a global scale. We are developing technologies that will enable the production of low cost, reliable, carbon-free hydrogen. Our team is led by seasoned energy executives and world-renowned technical thought leaders.

We are seeking an experienced Communications Lead with a strong background in the energy sector communications, ideally with experience in oil & gas, mining, geothermal or large-infrastructure industries. As we transition out of the early stage phase of the company, this role will help build Koloma’s public profile, establish education initiatives within the industry and lead proactive communication campaigns with media, communities, partners, and key stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • 10+ years in strategic communications or public relations
  • Demonstrated success in executive level communications, public education initiatives, and high impact media campaigns
  • Scientific or engineering literacy with background in energy resources businesses
  • Excellent storytelling and writing skills for media, social and strategic audiences, with ability to tailor to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build and scale brand visibility from early stage to market recognition
  • Comfort with fast-paced, startup environments with cross-functional collaboration
  • Established energy industry network, including relationships with relevant media/reporters
  • Experience in preparing communication plans in support of fundraising cycles preferred

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute Koloma’s multi stakeholder external communications strategy to position geologic hydrogen as a clean, credible and scalable primary energy source
  • Lead executive communications across major energy and financial media, supporting C-suite and technical leaders in building visibility and sharing perspectives on industry trends

Brand & Digital Presence

  • Build Koloma’s public profile across business, industry and digital channels, strengthening engagement with energy investors, strategic partners, hydrogen buyers, policymakers and local communities
  • Build, refine, and maintain Koloma’s website and brand presence, coordinating closely with international partners and affiliates
  • Ensure consistent messaging across regions with varying regulatory and cultural contexts
  • Oversee social media strategy, executive voice development, content planning and performance analytics

Media & Public Relations

  • Proactively secure relevant press coverage in trade and mainstream outlets around key milestones including land acquisitions, exploration results, partnerships and capital raises
  • Serve as the primary media liaison and company spokesperson

Community Partnership & Communications

  • Cultivate relationships and alignment with local media, landowners, stakeholders, and advocacy groups
  • Lead US community communications efforts, tailoring messaging and supporting local outreach in coordination with Koloma’s land team and local partners
  • Partner with the Land team to develop materials and engagement strategies for landowners and local governments
