The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in the design, development and delivery of Infravision’s state-of-the-art robotic and aerospace stringing systems.This role is responsible for leading mechanical design activities across new product development, prototyping and production support, ensuring optimal performance, manufacturability, safety and compliance.The position contributes directly to the advancement of groundbreaking stringing solutions for the global transmission industry, delivering measurable value, safety and productivity improvements for our customers.

What you’ll do
Design & Development
- Lead the design and development of components and integrated systems for stringing systems and related Infravision products.
- Ensure functionality, reliability and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles are embedded from concept through to production.
- Conduct engineering analysis and simulations including stress, thermal and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Develop and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Provide accurate project estimates for timeframes and development costs.
- Insure designs meet relevant industrial specifications and customer requirements(IEEE, ASME, etc.)
- Complete HAZOP/HAZID/FMECA to verify safety, and fault-safe nature of designs.
Prototyping, Testing & Validation
- Participate in prototype builds, testing and validation activities.
- Write and execute test plans and procedures for development and manufacturing validation.
- Analyse test data and implement iterative design improvements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues.
- Coordinate engineering support for lab testing and field validation activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with customers, software engineers, product managers and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless subsystem integration.
- Work with manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing teams to coordinate pilot production and product releases.
- Resolve design and fabrication issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal DFM guidelines and engineering standards.
Customer & Operational Support
- Provide engineering support to factory and customer support teams.
- Engage directly with customers to identify opportunities for productivity, safety and efficiency improvements.
- Maintain strong technical relationships with fabrication vendors and supply partners.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain currency with relevant safety standards, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design processes, documentation and product performance.
- Stay current with emerging materials, technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
What we are looking for

- Focused: we are a small team with many competing priorities. To be effective in this role you need to be able to isolate where you can have the greatest impact and rigorously prioritize.
- Willingness to travel: we operate throughout the United States, Canada, India and Australia and employees are required to travel from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 8+ years’ experience in mechanical design engineering (aerospace, robotics, heavy equipment or industrial systems highly regarded).
- Strong proficiency in Solidworks CAD and FEA tools.
- Demonstrated experience in taking products from concept through to production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and fabrication methods.
- Experience working in high-risk or safety-critical environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
