What you’ll do

  • Maintain and repair specialized stringing equipment — including tensioners, pullers, generators, and hydraulic systems — to keep high-voltage transmission projects running smoothly.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems using
    • advanced diagnostic tools and OEM schematics.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and control systems to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
    • Uphold strict safety and compliance standards, conducting thorough inspections and adhering to OSHA and company procedures.
    • Support field operations, traveling to job sites for on-the-spot repairs, inspections, and technical assistance.
    • Manage parts inventory and maintenance records through digital systems to keep equipment performance and traceability at the highest level.

What we are looking for

Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Vocational/Technical certification or Associate Degree in Diesel Mechanics, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, or a related field is highly preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy industrial, construction, or mining equipment.
    • Proven experience specifically with conductor stringing equipment (e.g., TESMEC, Condux, Pullz-All) or similar cable-handling machinery in the utility or construction sector is a significant asset.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

    • Electrical Systems: Strong capability in troubleshooting and repairing up to 480V three-phase electrical systems, controls, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and low-voltage DC control circuits.
    • Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Expert knowledge of open and closed-loop hydraulic systems, including component removal, re-sealing, and calibration.
    • Mechanical Systems: Solid understanding of diesel engine operation, powertrains, and braking systems in heavy-duty applications.
    • Problem-Solving: Exceptional diagnostic and fault-finding skills under pressure.
    • Communication: Ability to clearly document repairs and communicate technical issues to non-technical personnel (Field Supervisors, Operators).
    • Licensure: Valid driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 90 days is often required due to the size of equipment being serviced.

Work Environment

    • Work is performed both in a maintenance shop and outdoors in challenging weather conditions and rugged terrain at active construction sites.
    • Availability for on-call duties, extended hours, and travel to remote sites is required.
    • Must be physically capable of standing, bending, climbing, and safely lifting objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
