To accomplish our mission, we are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our Technology and Product Development team, focusing on the design and advancement of powerline stringing systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop cutting-edge mechanical components and systems that meet the evolving Infravision product and industry needs.

What you’ll do
- Design and Development: Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for powerline stringing applications, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate design concepts, analyzing data to refine and optimize designs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software developers, Aviation and operational teams and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs into Infravision comprehensive stringing systems.
- Manufacturing Support: Provide guidance on manufacturing processes, including the selection of materials and production methods, to ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports, to support product development and compliance requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement in product designs.
- Technical Field support: Provide technical field support to the Operations team supporting the implementation and integration of Infravisions methods and equipment.
- Strategic and business plan development: Provide support for the general direction of the business product development strategic and business plans.
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on product development and system design. Experience with stringing systems or related technologies is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mechanical drive systems utilised in pulling and tensioning operations.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design and analysis.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
