The Role
The Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS) is responsible for overseeing electrical and renewable energy installations to ensure all work complies with BS 7671, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves supervising installation teams, managing compliance documentation, supporting commissioning processes, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and technical performance across domestic and commercial projects.
The QS plays a key role in delivering Solar PV, Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS), and Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installations under both government-backed energy efficiency schemes and private sector programmes.
Responsibilities:
Electrical Compliance & Supervision: Act as the responsible Qualified Supervisor for electrical works, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and building regulations.
Regulatory Standards: Ensure all electrical installations meet NAPIT / MCS standards and all relevant regulatory requirements.
Project Planning & Oversight: Plan and oversee electrical aspects of renewable energy installations across multiple sites.
Surveying & Technical Design: Conduct electrical surveys, system design input, and technical planning.
Procurement & Cost Support: Support project pricing, materials selection, and procurement.
Team Coordination: Coordinate installation teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Quality Assurance: Monitor installation quality and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure safe working practices are followed in accordance with health and safety legislation.
Fault Resolution & Compliance: Identify and resolve electrical faults or compliance issues during installation and commissioning stages.
What we’re looking for:
Electrical Qualification: Qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Installation.
Qualified Supervisor Experience: Proven experience supervising electrical installations and signing off work as a Qualified Supervisor (QS).
Industry Competence Certification: Holder of AM2 certification demonstrating practical competence in electrical installation.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and their application in electrical installations.
Inspection & Testing Expertise: Strong knowledge of inspection, testing, and electrical certification processes.
Renewable Technology Experience: Experience working with Solar PV systems and other renewable technologies.
Leadership & Team Development: Ability to manage installation teams and mentor apprentices, ensuring high standards of workmanship and compliance.
