What’s this role about?

The Accountants Assistant will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, the calculation of amounts due to customers, the preparation of customer statements, the preparation of reconciliations and various other duties. This is a role which requires flexibility, and ability to work autonomously and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues both within the finance function and across the wider organisation.

The successful candidate will be given autonomy to take ownership of the customer disbursements process while also supporting the finance function with general finance activities. You will benefit from joining a team who will take the time to explain, support, and guide you to build confidence and develop the skills required to excel in the role. What will I be doing?

  • Verification of amounts due to customers using our bespoke software tools.
  • Preparation of customer statements to ensure customer accounts are kept up to date.
  • Identifying enhancements and automation to the customer statement preparation process.
  • Working with other stakeholders to improve systems and processes as required.
  • Responding to customer queries, liaising with account managers and other internal stakeholders on customer issues.
  • Compliance with and maintenance of appropriate internal controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of amounts payable.
  • Assisting team with reporting, posting journals, preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting similar activities.
  • Assisting team with vendor set up and bank account verification.
  • Assisting team with employee expense process.
  • Administration of the Finance email address.
  • Maintaining bank mandate documentation and keeping records of authorised signatories
  • Filing tax returns and preparing trackers to make sure deadlines are adhered to – monitoring compliance with deadlines.
  • Running reports and preparing analyses to support management.
  • Supporting the external audit by providing requested documentation.
  • Providing inputs to cash flow forecasts.
  • Assistance with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting.
  • Other ad hoc duties and tasks to support a growing business.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Superior attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Experience in MS Office
  • Ability to handle and protect confidential information.
