Position Summary
The Revenue-to-Cash Transformation Advisor is a strategic, results-oriented consultant responsible for assessing, optimizing, and transforming the Company's revenue-to-cash processes. Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the Finance, Operations, and Project Management teams, this role will focus on accelerating cash conversion, improving liquidity, reducing unbilled revenue, enhancing collections performance, and establishing sustainable operational practices that drive long-term financial performance.
This engagement is designed to create a best-in-class revenue-to-cash capability that improves working capital management, strengthens operational discipline, and supports the Company's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue-to-Cash Assessment & Strategy
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the Company's current revenue-to-cash lifecycle, including project closeout, customer acceptance, billing, collections, dispute resolution, and cash application processes.
- Identify operational bottlenecks, process inefficiencies, and organizational barriers impacting cash flow and liquidity.
- Develop and implement a strategic roadmap to improve cash conversion and working capital performance.
Billing & Revenue Optimization
- Analyze current billing practices and recommend improvements to accelerate invoice generation and submission.
- Reduce Days Unbilled by improving project closeout processes, customer acceptance procedures, and internal handoffs.
- Partner with operational leadership to ensure timely completion of required documentation supporting billing activities.
- Establish standardized billing workflows and accountability measures.
Collections & Cash Flow Improvement
- Evaluate existing collections processes and implement strategies to improve collection effectiveness.
- Develop processes to proactively identify, manage, and resolve invoice disputes.
- Create escalation procedures for delinquent accounts and collection challenges.
- Improve visibility into outstanding receivables and collection priorities.
Working Capital & Liquidity Enhancement
- Identify opportunities to improve operating cash flow and overall liquidity.
- Evaluate financing alternatives, customer payment structures, and cash acceleration opportunities.
- Recommend technology solutions, automation tools, outsourcing partnerships, or process enhancements that improve cash conversion efficiency.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations leadership to align revenue recognition, billing, and cash collection practices.
Performance Management & Sustainability
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and reporting structures to monitor performance.
- Implement best practices and accountability mechanisms across departments.
- Develop standardized procedures, training materials, and governance processes to ensure improvements remain in place after the engagement concludes.
- Transfer knowledge and capabilities to internal teams to create long-term operational sustainability.
Success Measures
Success will be measured by demonstrable improvements in:
- Reduction in Days Unbilled
- Reduction in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO)
- Reduction in unbilled revenue balances
- Improvement in invoice cycle times
- Increase in operating cash flow
- Measurable liquidity improvement
- Enhanced collections effectiveness
- Improved customer acceptance and closeout performance
- Successful transfer of knowledge and capabilities to internal teams
Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
- Works in close partnership with Finance leadership, Operations leadership, Project Management teams, and key stakeholders throughout the organization
- Collaborates closely with the VP of Business Operations/FP&A and the existing leadership team
Engagement Structure
- Engagement duration: 90 to 180 days
- Independent advisor/consultant engagement
- Compensation structured as a monthly retainer combined with performance-based incentives tied to measurable liquidity and cash flow improvements
Desired Outcome
At the conclusion of the engagement, the Company will possess a scalable, sustainable, and best-in-class revenue-to-cash operating model that accelerates cash conversion, improves liquidity, strengthens operational discipline, enhances customer satisfaction, and supports long-term growth and profitability.
