Uplight is creating a new category of energy. We make software that manages energy resources in homes and businesses—including things like smart thermostats, electric vehicles, solar panels, storage batteries, heat pumps, and even people’s behavior—to generate, shift, or save energy to balance the grid, making it more efficient and reliable. This creates clean energy capacity that can be used by the power grid instead of burning more fossil fuels. Our solutions accelerate the transition to clean energy and save money for energy customers.
We are looking for a People Business Partner to drive our company forward, and help us lead the clean energy revolution!
How you will make an impact:
  • Develop a deep understanding of assigned business unit, including strategic objectives, and financial performance. Develop and execute people and talent strategies to support strategic objectives.
  • Drive organizational development initiatives, including change management, culture transformation, and organizational design.
  • Utilize HR metrics and employee feedback to understand engagement and effectiveness. Partner with leaders and People Team on pragmatic solutions.
  • Lead programs and decision making on workforce planning, compensation, succession planning and performance management
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, employee relations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations when needed.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and other COEs to deliver talent solutions to your business units.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, etc. to leverage their support in executing HR strategy and business operations.
What you bring to Uplight:
  • 3+ years of People Business Partner experience in high growth and fast-paced tech environments
  • Experience partnering with C Suite leaders
  • Experience leading distributed teams
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Experience with change management and organizational design principles and approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women, marginalized genders and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Uplight we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
