ev.energy set up in 2018 with a simple aim - to make electric vehicle charging simpler, greener, and cheaper for everyone. Drivers download our app and charge their vehicle overnight; and, in the background, we’re ingesting real-time data and using our proprietary smart-charging algorithm to align charging sessions with energy from renewable sources. This reduces carbon emissions caused by EV charging by as much as 70%.

This is a growing industry, with growing demand for our solution - a third of new cars by 2030 will be electric. Simultaneously, there’s increasing strain on the power grid (power outages have already jumped by 64% in the last decade in the USA). We are already working with over 30 utilities in the US, Canada and Europe, offering a way to reduce demand on the grid.

To achieve this we’ve brought together a team of over 100 people, bringing expertise from previous roles at National Grid, Tesla, Amazon, Arcadia, and Chargepoint; we’ve secured over 50m USD from leading VCs in the automotive and energy space including National Grid Partners, WEX Venture Capital, Energy Impact Partners and JLR’s InMotion Ventures. Come help us drive change for the better.

The role

We're looking for a Program Manager to lead on the delivery and execution of some of our EV charging programs with energy utilities. Reporting to the Director of Programs, you'll be working closely with our utility partners to scope, execute and grow residential EV charging programs that help EV drivers save money while delivering tangible grid and network benefits to utilities across North America, from Hawaii to Nova Scotia.

You’ll work with the engineering, product, and design teams to build and test various utility program designs allowing EV drivers to seamlessly enroll and participate in the program, build APIs and portals to connect to EVs and chargers, aligning them with renewable energy generation, and work with our customer support team to resolve bugs and ensure utilities and drivers are delighted with our service.

What will you be doing?

  • Translating signed commercial contracts into concrete project management plans that can be used by our utility clients and our team to scope out key workstreams, identify interdependencies and ensure deliverables are ready on time and to budget

  • Leading kick-off processes with utility counterparts, identifying focal points for key pieces of work and bringing ev.energy and utility teams together to agree a plan of action

  • Day to day management of commercial projects, collaborating with our engineers, designers and marketers, and coordinating with engineering to investigate bugs as they may arise

  • Cleansing, structuring and analyzing EV charging data to drive insights for the business and our utility clients using web-based BI tools

  • Collaborating with marketing and customer support teams (internally and within utility companies) to ensure program growth through continued customer enrolment

  • Proactively managing utility accounts, serving as the day-to-day focal point for commercial projects and working to expand programs, report results and ensure they love working with us every step of the way

  • Analyzing and investigating EV charging data, running SQL queries of the database, looking into support tickets when needed, running reports on app downloads and conducting other ad hoc queries as required

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in program/project management or customer success

  • Some experience in or exposure to the EV charging or utility industries in the US

  • Experience in and knowledge of data analytics, ideally with knowledge of using SQL for data analytics purposes

  • Good knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Jira, and other project management software

  • Independent and resourceful; able to navigate complexity to ensure timely and quality delivery

  • A positive, can-do, tenacious attitude that’s willing to work hard and continuously adapt to a rapidly-growing industry

  • Excellent organizational abilities, able to manage multiple programs at a time and prioritize appropriately

  • Attention to detail - you will notice if something doesn’t look quite right and dig into the data to either resolve or suggest improvements that can be made

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (unfortunately we cannot sponsor visas at this time)

How will we support you?

  • Work remotely and work well - we'll provide the tools you need to do your best (including a Macbook Pro), and can provide access to co-working spaces

  • Access to conferences, meet-ups and training through our L&D allowance

  • A structured career progression framework and advancement opportunities

  • Great benefits - including health insurance, 401(k) or pension, paid parental leave

  • Annual team gatherings - in previous years the whole company has spent a week together in London, Bath and Manchester in the UK

If you don’t have all of the requirements, but you’re really interested in what we’re doing, please apply anyway and we can consider your application now and in future! We value applicants regardless of their background or years of experience. We'll also do our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments to the interview process if needed.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity: we do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status. If you'd like a copy of our DE&I policy you can reach us at hiring@ev.energy.
