Description

We are ERock!

ERock is a leader and innovator in distributed energy. ERock has responded to long-term trends in electricity by becoming the first smart-grid supplier to US energy consumers. The company installs, operates, and integrates its highly flexible, low-cost, and quick-response distributed generation to increase reliability and stability, reduce costs and decrease carbon footprint.

At ERock, our backup generators ensure that customers will never be without power, allowing their business to operate normally when there is an outage in the area. Our innovative approach provides customers with highly reliable, ultra-clean backup generation at a fraction of the cost of traditional backup solutions. We seek those who share our commitment to customer service, innovation, and ingenuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take complex, high-level initiatives and turn them into actionable plans, distributing work across engineers based on their strengths and expertise. Track progress and surface blockers across software, infrastructure, and data science.
  • Hold the team to approved engineering standards and architecture, including code review, branching, release windows, and automated testing. Review work against documented standards and catch deviations before they reach production. Bring proposed changes with reasoning and trade-offs; implement once approved.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment management.
  • Run triage, escalation, and post-incident review for production issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and code review to engineers, and keep documentation current as the system changes.
  • Move quickly and experiment with new technologies and approaches while maintaining the engineering discipline required for reliable, production-critical systems.
  • Escalate risks, scope changes, and trade-offs early, with a recommendation.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Requirements

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years leading software delivery as a technical lead, delivery lead, staff engineer, or similar role.
  • Hands-on proficiency with C#/.NET.
  • Production experience building and operating applications on Azure.
  • Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD pipelines, branching strategy, and release management in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, and automated testing practices.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple teams or disciplines.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in energy, industrial IoT, manufacturing, or another environment with physical assets and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing or operating software on resource-constrained or intermittently connected hardware.
  • Familiarity with edge-to-cloud architectures and large-scale telemetry.
  • Experienced technical leader who prefers to remain a hands-on individual contributor, leading through technical judgement, execution and influence.
  • Track record of shipping under real deadlines, with the reasoning behind trade-offs made explicit.
  • Experience improving engineering practices on a system already in production, without interrupting delivery.
  • Pragmatic application of agile practices, adapting process to what the work actually needs.
  • Clear, direct communication with engineers, executives, and cross-functional partners.
  • Calm under pressure, with a habit of escalating early rather than absorbing problems.
