Position Overview:
We are seeking a safety-focused, skilled, and dependable Power Generation Technician 2 to support operations and maintenance activities at ERock’s McCloud Power Station in El Paso, Texas. This position performs preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair activities on modular natural gas generation equipment and associated microgrid systems at a single assigned site.
This role is designed as a stable, site-based position supporting McCloud Station’s high-density modular generation environment. Technicians work within established procedures, standardized maintenance practices, and defined safety requirements while applying intermediate mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills to help maintain reliable, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned generation assets.
The Power Generation Technician 2 supports site reliability by independently completing routine maintenance work, assisting with more advanced repairs, documenting equipment condition, escalating abnormal findings, and partnering with senior technicians, operations, and supervision as needed. This role requires demonstrated technical capability, strong safety performance, sound judgment, and the ability to work with limited day-to-day direction within defined procedures.
This role reports to a Power Generation Group Supervisor at McCloud Station.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing preventive maintenance and corrective mechanical tasks on modular natural gas generation equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, controls, and auxiliary equipment issues within defined Technician 2 scope.
- Completing scheduled inspections and rounds to identify equipment conditions, maintenance needs, leaks, alarms, or potential issues requiring escalation.
- Supporting equipment availability by completing maintenance activities on time, to standard, and within assigned work scope.
- Accurately documenting completed work, inspections, findings, parts usage, and follow-up needs using company maintenance systems, shift logs, and required site records.
- Adhering to all safety requirements, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout (LOTO), dead checks, environmental controls, spill prevention, and site-specific work practices.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area within the assigned McCloud Station work scope.
- Communicating equipment conditions, abnormal findings, work status, and support needs clearly to supervisors, senior technicians, and operations personnel.
- Supporting senior technicians, regional resources, or subject matter experts during advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning support, or repair activities when required.
- Providing informal support, guidance, and work-task reinforcement to Technician 1 employees or less experienced team members when assigned.
- Performing additional McCloud Station support tasks as assigned, within the defined scope of the role.
- Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience with engines, mechanical systems, industrial equipment, or power generation equipment.
- Basic-to-intermediate electrical, controls, or instrumentation experience, or equivalent hands-on troubleshooting capability.
- Ability to follow written procedures, checklists, maintenance standards, and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently within defined procedures and recognize when escalation or additional support is required.
- Basic computer skills for documentation, reporting, maintenance system use, and shift or work-status communication.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check if required for site access or company vehicle use.
- Ability to work assigned schedules and support McCloud Station operating needs.
- All role-specific training will be provided.

- Work well as part of an internal operations and maintenance team supporting a high-reliability power generation site.
- Represent ERock professionally while supporting customers, site leadership, and operational stakeholders.
