We're looking for a System Engineer Intern for Summer 2024! In this role, you will support the modeling and optimization of our hydrogen production plants. You will work cross functionally to understand overall plant design and operation, develop models to predict performance and gather data from test systems to validate the models.

You will work onsite and split your time between our offices in San Carlos and San Jose, CA. You will report into the Product Lead Engineer.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the plant level modeling effort by developing models in Python and Matlab
  • Write test plans for our prototype and pilot systems to validate models
  • Gather data from smaller scale testing and use it to develop empirical models
  • Work cross-functionally with design engineers to communicate modeling results and gather feedback
  • Work with engineers throughout the company who are developing component level and subsystem level models to define interface between models and align efforts

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Coding in Python or Matlab
  • Prior modeling experience
  • Experience with chemical plants
  • Experience with complex products

Compensation and Benefits

  • All students will have the opportunity to develop communication skills, gain laboratory experience and benefit from a valuable experience within a start-up culture while learning about the energy industry.
  • $1,500 transportation stipend will be provided or $3,000 relocation stipend (depending on location).

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
