We are searching for a Senior Procurement Counsel who enjoys developing relationships and building trust across multiple functions within an organization and who is a strong business partner with well-honed legal skills. Your primary responsibilities will be to manage a large volume of procurement contracts and work with business teams to guide contracts through review, negotiation, signing and fulfillment. Additionally, you may assist in supporting a variety of other legal matters and projects, including intellectual property, trade, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

You will be based in San Carlos, CA and will report to the Chief Legal Officer. In person is preferred, but a remote position may be considered for a candidate willing to travel routinely.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the supply chain/procurement team on vendor contracts.
  • Review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including purchase agreements, services agreements, equipment agreements, purchase orders, O&M agreements, construction contracts, subscription agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist in continually improving form agreements for a range of supply chain purchases and procurement.
  • Assist in designing scalable processes to help legal and business teams process, review, execute, manage, and maintain legal documentation related to procurement and other legal matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and business development, to ensure legal compliance and risk management in all areas of the business.
  • Counsel internal stakeholders, including senior management, sales, finance, and engineering, regarding procurement-related commercial and legal risks.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enhancing corporate policies and processes for regulatory compliance.
  • Manage competing priorities and expectations in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters, as needed.
  • Handle other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Licensed attorney. Active status in at least one U.S. state bar (ideally where the position is located)
  • At least 10 years of experience with a global law firm or in-house legal team, with relevant legal experience in leading procurement transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to function as a generalist to support the Legal Department’s mission and willingness to jump in and assist the team as needed

$220,000$242,000 USD

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
