Who’ll You Be Joining:

You will be joining as the primary Senior Researcher specialized in Market and Consumer Insights on our in-house Research and Consumer Insights team. In this role, you will be responsible for independently leading and supporting research initiatives that focus on improving the experience across every stage of our consumer lifecycle. You will do this by being the end-to-end Researcher – designing, conducting, analyzing, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research to build a complete picture of the consumer by identifying their needs, motivations, expectations, and goals.

You have strong skills to communicate and support a customer-first approach and the ability to translate research findings into actionable insights for a diverse audience of stakeholders and leadership. Your outputs will inform key organizational strategies that will help ecobee gain a deeper understanding of our customers and consumers, how the products and services we design fit into their lives and optimize our marketing strategies.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Responsible for independently and autonomously managing all aspects of the market research process based on the project objectives, including study design and refinement, questionnaire design, questionnaire programming and recruitment (using online survey and qualitative recruitment tools), data collection, statistical analysis, reporting and presentation of results.
  • Maintain relationships with research suppliers and consultants.
  • Use a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methods including focus groups/IDIs, IHUTs, concept testing, positioning testing, consumer segmentations, customer behaviour tracker, satisfaction surveys, price elasticity, etc.
  • Translating research findings and data into actionable insights, especially with brand health and branding-related research
  • Take initiative to identify and explore new opportunities to guide organizational strategy, including foundational, formative, and evaluative research
  • Communicate and deliver meaningful customer insights in creative and compelling ways to a variety of audiences, such as design teams, product teams, marketing teams and executive teams
  • Establish and monitor a Consumer Insights feedback system that paints a comprehensive picture of customer experience across all touchpoints.
  • Evangelize consumer insights across the company by helping build our core customer experience research and insights capabilities

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Market Research and/or a quantitative/qualitative mixed methods research role (strong preference for experience in consultant/supplier side)
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with an emphasis on analytical thinking. Preference for those with courses in market research, statistical analysis, data analytics, sociology, psychology, sciences
  • Fluent in best research practices, processes, and governance
  • Advanced knowledge of consumer strategy research (concept testing, positioning testing, consumer segmentations, customer behaviour tracker, satisfaction surveys, price elasticity, brand health), with expertise in a range of primary and secondary research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Strong proficiency in survey design
  • Extensive experience and creativity in presentation of data to a variety of audiences (e.g., design teams, product teams, marketing teams, and executive teams)
  • Excellent project management, administrative, and organizational skills, with ability to balance competing priorities
  • Focus group moderator skills and experience with IDIs and IHUTs an asset
  • Proficient in online survey programming (using online platforms such as Alchemer, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, etc.) and study management
  • Nice to have experience in statistical software, such as R, SAS, SPSS, Python, etc.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to synthesize, interpret, analyze, and report on findings
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of business intelligence tools like Tableau would be an asset.
  • Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • A strong interest in smart home technologies

Interview Process:

  • Round 1: A 30 minute phone call with a member in Talent Acquisition
  • Round 2: A 30 minute virtual interview with the Hiring Manager – expect technical, behavioural, and situational questions
  • Round 3: A 1 hour virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and the team – expect technical, behavioural, and situational questions
  • Final Interview: If your interviews go well, you can expect a take home case study, which you get a week to work on – you will then present your solution to a cross-functional group of stakeholders in a virtual setting during the 90 minute final interview.
