Position Overview
As a member of the Strategic Partnerships team, you will develop partnerships and maintain relationships with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recyclers, IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) companies and medium to large sized Tech companies, to source rare-earth bearing electronic scrap to be recycled. Your duties will encompass all things related to the purchase of our feedstock, including business development, negotiation of pricing, and volumes. You will be based in our corporate office in Downtown Toronto and may travel throughout North America periodically to meet with sellers and attend conferences. Occasional visits to the company's engineering facilities in both downtown Kingston, Ontario and Phoenix Arizona are possible. You will report to the Manager of Strategic Partnerships. When not traveling, this team works 4 days-per-week in-person in the Toronto office.
Responsibilities
- Develop new relationships with sellers of feedstock, ITAD facilities, electronics recyclers, and product manufacturers.
- Assist in the negotiation of long-term supply contracts, gathering and analyzing historical pricing information.
- Stay abreast of current market trends and competitive situations/practices to meet the needs of the operations supplied.
- Coordinate the supply requirements and timing with operations department.
- Assist in the development of external presentations, grant applications, certifications, and other documentation.
- Support internal and external audits as they relate to the responsible handling and management of electronic scrap.
- Represent the company in industry associations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Engineering or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in the electronic scrap industry, bonus for direct experience in the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) industry
- Experience developing and managing relationships from lead generation through to contracting and operationalization
- Understanding of the dynamics of pricing, shipping, and availability of feedstock
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results with a respectful and inclusive style
- Ability to operate in a dynamic Startup environment, contributing outside of specific responsibilities
- Ability to develop repeatable processes and procedures to support company growth
- Familiarity with Responsible Recycling (R2), ISO 9001, 14001, & 45001 standards or adjacent compliance an asset
