Position Overview

At Cyclic Materials, we look for bright, ambitious, innovative team players who enjoy challenges and have a drive to produce results. As a member of the Engineering and Technology team, you will be assisting in the development of our Spoke and Hub facilities. The role is responsible for the production of process drawings in accordance with the project requirements. You will be based in our Toronto office with occasional travel to plant sites.

This role reports to the Process Engineering Manager and works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. When not traveling, this cohesive team works 4 days a week in-person from our Toronto location.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the process CAD design department and develop company standards
  • Lead the configuration and implementation of software such as Intergraph Smart P&ID or AutoCAD P&ID as well as BIM software
  • Developing detailed PFDs and P&IDs in CAD software to support our various projects.
  • Create MTO Reports.
  • Collaborating with mechanical design group to align on drawing standards
  • Collaborating with process engineers to interpret and understand project requirements.
  • Ensuring all designs adhere to industry standards and company guidelines.
  • Reviewing and verifying design drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Participating in design review meetings and providing technical support.
  • Maintaining and updating design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues.
  • Developing and implementing best practices for CAD usage and design procedures.
  • Develop and mentor junior designers

We seek an assortment of skills that would include all or a mix of the following:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Experience range
We are looking for a Process CAD Designers with a range of experience levels in using CAD software’s for creating PFDs and P&IDs

  • Senior level candidates: 7-10 years
  • Intermediate level: 4-7 years
