Job Description
The WorkWave Team is seeking a skilled and capable Engineering Manager to guide a team of talented developers in building modern web applications. The role involves overseeing both front-end and back-end development, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, and ensuring successful project delivery. Our teams are composed of technologists, Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Business Analysts, UI/UX designers, TechOps, and DevOps professionals, all working to deliver our vision.
- Manage and lead a team of full-stack developers, providing mentorship, guidance, to foster professional growth and ensure project success.
- Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Work closely with other engineering managers and product owners to define project needs, priorities, and timelines, and effectively communicate progress.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the development teams, implementing best practices, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration
- Work with cross-functional teams including product management, quality assurance, and operations to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.
- Foster the growth and enhancement of the assigned WorkWave teams, including the recruitment of top-tier talent and performance management to build and maintain a high-performing team.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the software development teams in Sri Lanka.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
- Create and maintain knowledge base documentation to facilitate efficient issue resolution and learning.
Qualifications
- University qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven capability in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in managing software development teams in an agile environment, coupled with at least 5 years of hands-on full-stack development
OR
7-8 years of experience in full-stack development, accompanied by strong leadership acumen. - Strong technical background with expertise in .NET Core, React (or other JS development), and MSSQL.
- Proven ability with scaling systems in a cloud environment (AWS) would be an added advantage.
- Proven ability with message-based architectures will be an added advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams across geographies and time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability working with engineering managers, QA managers, and product owners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation.
- Working knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
