Boston Metal is commercializing cutting edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production, while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is looking for a Supply Chain Planner to help with both short and long term material planning for our upcoming projects.

Job Description:

  • You will report to the Senior Supply Chain Manager and be responsible for collaborating closely with engineering, warehouse, and procurement to ensure efficient project planning, inventory management, and optimization of the procurement processes to ensure timely deliver parts and services.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to outline project plans for the upcoming year.
  • Develop comprehensive costed Bills of Materials (BOM) for each project run, considering all required components and materials.
  • Utilize project run plans to work with the warehouse team to monitor inventory levels of all items needed for upcoming projects.
  • Forecast and highlight the quantity of each item required to meet project plan goals.
  • Work closely with buyers to ensure timely placement of purchase orders for required items, aligning with project timelines.
  • Support procurement with long-term views of material requirements to help secure supplier capacity and improved pricing.
  • Ensure safety stock levels are maintained for each item to cover potential damages, losses, or increased consumption.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs. Report on inventory accuracy, highlighting discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory management, planning efficiency, and upcoming purchase needs.
  • Utilize statistical tools and software to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for optimization, such as project planning, inventory management, and purchasing.
  • Implement improvements to enhance overall supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial or Engineering relevant, or Business related field.
  • 2-5 yrs Supply chain planning experience in engineering/industrial environment or closely relevant industry.
  • Proven experience in supply chain planning, particularly in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
  • Familiarity with Bills of Materials (BOM) and project planning processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in NetSuite or other ERP tools.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or other visualization tools is a plus.

Additional Information:

You will be working in a small team environment where teamwork and good relationships with other team members is critical. We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
